Creations will take shape at Great Pumpkin Carve, starting Thursday
Fans of the Great Pumpkin Carve probably already have the dates etched in their memory, but if you’ve never attended this crowd-pleasing event, it’s time to follow up on its glowing reviews.
This year’s quintessential, quirky fall activity, which is sponsored by the Chadds Ford Historical Society, will be held Thursday through Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. The actual carving will occur Thursday night. Teams no larger than four people will be transforming the pumpkins – dremels are permitted – and only the assigned squash and its components, such as seeds and guts, can be incorporated into the final design.
On Friday and Saturday nights, the elaborate, finished creations will be lit and displayed. Live music, hayrides and raffle opportunities will be featured all three nights. In addition to prizes determined by the judges, a People’s Choice winner will be selected by attendees on Thursday night and announced on Friday.
Admission is $5 for adults, 18 and older, $3 for children ages 7 to 17, and free for children 6 and under. Members of the Chadds Ford Historical Society also get in free with their membership card. The society is located at 1736 N. Creek Rd., in Chadds Ford. For more information, visit www.chaddsfordhistory.org or call 610-388-7376.
