Christopher J. Winesburg honored for efforts to combat drunken-driving
A trooper from the Avondale barracks was among 56 officers statewide honored recently for their efforts to combat drunken-driving.
Trooper Christopher J. Winesburg received the “2012 DUI Top Gun Awards” last week from the Pennsylvania Driving Under the Influence Association, a professional organization founded in 1979 to reduce DUI fatalities and injuries.
“These officers make it a priority to keep our roadways safer by removing the impaired drivers,” said C. Stephen Erni, the organization’s executive director. “Their efforts to remove offenders who drive under the influence is an integral part in the solution towards the elimination of the number of impaired drivers and the harm they cause.”
Members of the Pennsylvania DUI Association include criminal justice system professionals, business and industry representatives, and drug and alcohol treatment professionals. The group regularly provides training to highway safety personnel, develops and distributes resource materials, and coordinates the state’s Students Against Drunk Driving office.
