Underage drinkers keep Kennett Square police busy

Officers issued 12 citations in three separate incidents recently

Kennett Square police reported three incidents in the past couple of weeks in which teens were charges with underage drinking.

On Oct. 28, police issued  10 citations for underage drinking and one for disorderly conduct at 2:32 a.m. in the 500 block of Southview Avenue.  According to police, the drinking citations went to Michale Downes, 18, Bradley Hoopes, 20, Todd Hoopes, 18, and a 17-year-old female, all of Landenberg; Jason Meietta, 18, Erick Werner, 18, and a 17-year-old male, all of Kennett Square; a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old female, both of  Avondale; and a 17-year-old male from Chadds Ford. Joshua Massi, 18, of Landenberg, received the disorderly -conduct citation, police said.

Jose Ramirez, 19, of Toughkemamon, was cited for underage drinking in the 100 block of West State Street on Oct. 27 at 8:29 p.m., police said.

Jose Guteirrez, 18, of Kennett Square, was cited for underage drinking on Oct. 22 at 6:18 p.m. in the 400 block of East Cypress Street, police said.

A 22-year-old Kennett Square resident was cited recently for  criminal mischief. Police said Cesar Sanchez was involved in an incident that occurred Sept. 11 between 7:30 and 7:45 p.m. in the 500 block of Center Street.

Police said three young people received citations for  alleged car vandalism on Sept. 26 between 7 and 10 p.m. Police said Baltaza Diaz-Avalos, 20, fof Kennett Square, and Martin Diaz-Moreno, 18, and  a 16-year-old male, both of Claymont, De., ripped the side mirrors off of a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Juniper Street, let air out of two tires, and urinated on the vehicle.

A disorderly conduct citation was issued to Collin Campbell, 19, of Kennett Square, for an incident that occurred Oct. 22 at 9:35 p.m. in the 500 block of West Cypress Street, police said.

A 25-year-old woman was arrested  after a traffic stop on Oct. 23 at South Union and Oak Avenue. Police said Meagan Matthews of Hockessin, De., was driving under the influence at 12:15 a.m.
