Ready for 2013, but without resolutions

Embracing the big picture without getting caught up the details

By Kelly Hockenberry, Columnist, The Times

2013.

Lucky 13!

Are you feelin’ it?

I am.  Wanna know why?  Because THIS time I am NOT going to make any resolutions.  (I’m actually twitching as I type).  But, seriously…EVERY year I make a laundry list of ways to “improve” myself (which, inevitably include a diet and exercise regime designed for *Olympic caliber athletes).

*news flash:  I am not an Olympic caliber athlete

I saw this picture on Pinterest (via LostCreekAcres) and had to share because it sums things up nicely:

Funny, huh?

So, instead of creating a checklist of unattainable goals, I’ve decided to make resolutions more reflective of the “big picture.”  Mature, right?

Here is MY “Top 5”:

  1. Enjoy All the Little Things
  2. Take Risks
  3. Be Grateful
  4. Make An Impact
  5. Bite My Tongue (sometimes)

I do love the fresh start that the New Year brings.  The possibility for growth seems limitless!

I also think it’s important to ask two critical, very personal questions:

  1. What was the BEST thing that happened this year?
  2. What was the WORST thing?  And, more importantly, what did I learn from the experience?

Sorry to get all “Stuart Smalley” on you, but, intriguing…right?

I would love to hear YOUR resolutions for 2013!  Add them to the Comments Section below!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
