Borough’s farmers’ market is year-round operation

Everyone who knows Kennett Square realizes that one of America’s hippest small towns didn’t get that way by following the crowd.  Part of the borough’s charm comes from the fact that it’s different, and its Farmers’ Market is no exception.

Unlike many market operations that run from spring to fall, the Kennett Square Farmers’ Market operates year-round.   Located outdoors in the heart of the borough, the winter market is held in the same location as the summer market along East State Street between Broad and Union Streets.

The Kennett Square winter market keeps slightly shorter hours, running from 2 to 4 p.m. each first and third Friday monthly.  The offerings include fresh greenhouse produce, many varieties of apples, local wine, artisanal sheep cheese and humanely raised lamb cuts, locally roasted organic and fair trade coffee, handmade chocolates, eggs, honey, delicious baked goods and gluten free cookies, even made-from scratch sausage.

To support the local food system from the front line, like it on Facebook, and sign up to receive its e-newsletter, which details the offerings each session: http://www.historickennettsquare.com/farmers.html.
