Program with Kennett expert will detail Chester Springs activity
Travel back in time to an era when brave Chester Countians risked their lives to promote freedom for all through the Underground Railroad, courtesy of the county library system.
The Henrietta Hankin branch is hosting a free, public program on Thursday, March 28, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., which will focus on the Underground Railroad, especially its operation in Chester Springs. Roger Price, a guide with the Kennett Underground Railroad Center, will spotlight the Lewis family and, in particular, Graceanna Lewis. Books about the Underground Railroad will be available for purchase.

The mission of the Chester County and Henrietta Hankin Branch Libraries is to provide informational, educational and cultural services to the residents of Chester County so that they may be lifelong learners. The Kennett Underground Railroad is a nonprofit that focuses on educating the public through its learning center, exhibits, Kennett Underground Railroad Heritage Trail Tour, dramas, lectures, and education/outreach programs. It has the honor of being listed as a facility in the National Park Service’s Network to Freedom program, which links Underground Railroad sites throughout the United States.
