Popular, independent film series continuing in Kennett Square
For bargain entertainment, it’s hard to beat the Kennett Flash, where a popular independent, film series is continuing in the Back Alley Theater.
On Thursday, March 28, the offering is “The Other Son,” tells the story of two young men, one Israeli and one Palestinian, who discover they were accidentally switched at birth. It’s been described as a tribute to shared humanity as a way to bridge intolerance.
“The Great Waldo Pepper” will be featured on Thursday, April 11, a film starring Robert Redford as a biplane pilot who had missed flying in WWI, and as a result, takes up barnstorming and later a movie career in his quest for lost glory, eventually getting a chance to prove himself in a film depicting the dogfights in the Great War. A special Q&A with guest Bo Brundin, the Swedish actor who plays opposite Redford, will be included.
“The Impossible” will grace the screen on Thursday, April 25. Starring Naomi Watts, it recounts the horrors of the 2004 tsunami as seen through the eyes of a family caught in the mayhem of one of the worst natural catastrophes ever.
Admission is $5. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the films start at 7:30. The theater is located at 102 Sycamore Alley in Kennett Square.
