Astronaut Christopher Ferguson, who commanded the final mission of the Space Shuttle Atlantis, will be the featured speaker at the Kennett Education Foundation’s eighth annual Spring Dinner, April 22.

KENNETT — The Kennett Education Foundation will hold its eighth Annual Spring Dinner, “Reach for the Stars”, on Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Mendenhall Inn Grand Ballroom beginning at 6:00 pm.  The featured speaker will be Chris Ferguson, former NASA astronaut.  After more than thirty years in service, Atlantis made its final voyage in July, 2011 with Chris as its commander.  Come hear his incredible journey and find out how KEF can reach for the stars with your support!

Since 2001, the Kennett Education Foundation has partnered with Kennett Consolidated School District to encourage innovative ideas, invest in programs that improve academic progress, promote family involvement, and recognize the outstanding achievements of educators.  Scholarships are awarded to students, and promising and proven practices grants are funded for teachers.

The Annual Spring Dinner is KEF’s largest fundraiser of the year and will bring staff, families, and the local community together to celebrate the accomplishments within the Kennett Consolidated School District and promote new programs for the upcoming years. This year, KEF will “Reach For The Stars” and continue to raise funds for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs in the district. Recently, KEF voted to dedicate $150,000 in STEM funding over the next 5 years.

The evening will feature a silent auction and a live auction with local auctioneer William Bunch taking the lead.  The auction will be filled with items from local artists, tickets to sporting events, golf packages, even tours of Good Morning America and Washington, DC (including dining in the Senate only Dining Room!).

Toss a Cork, a fan favorite, will be played again this year.  When you purchase a cork, you have the opportunity to choose a bottle of wine from our Wine Selection and then you “Toss” your cork in the bucket for a chance to win a Kindle Fire HD tablet valued at $200.  Heads or Tails will also be back.  When you purchase a ticket to play, you pick your head or tail.  If you guess the coin toss, then you are still in the game!  The last person standing wins a prize.

Tickets, priced at $100 per person, to the evening can be purchased at www.kennetteducationfoundation.org.

Be sure to sign up quickly since this event is a sell out each year!
