14th annual student musical debuts on May 10
The Kennett Middle School (KMS) is inviting the public to journey under the sea as it stages “The Little Mermaid,” the district announced.
The Disney favorite, the school’s 14th annual student musical production, opens Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m. in the school’s auditorium, located on 195 Sunny Dell Road in Landenberg. Two more performances are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on May 11.
The production marks the third Disney show among KMS musicals, joining “Aladdin Jr.” in 2006 and “Beauty and the Beast” in 2009, both of which delighted area families. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens.
Director Heather Uster, Music Director Kyle Scheuing and Stage Manager Karen Goldman have been working with 100 students since rehearsals began in February. Olivia Pagliaro will play the title role of Ariel, while Ben Skross will play Prince Eric. Other talents include Cassidy Matz as Ursula, Tamblyn Mitchell as Flounder, and Cole Bottari as Sebastian.
The show is approximately 1½ hours long with one intermission, during which snacks and flowers will be available for purchase. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
Kennett Middle School’s annual musical production has been a highlight of local community entertainment since its debut in 1999. Uster expressed gratitude to the KMS and KCSD administration and local business owners who have supported this program over the years. The KMS Musical welcomes donations and will accept monetary contributions even after the show. Anyone interested in supporting this endeavor may contact Uster at
