Seasonal vegetables among many offerings at Summer Farmers Market
Fresh tastes of the season will be available from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday as a host of vendors offer a selection of locally grown produce, cheeses, plants and specialty items at the Kennett Square Summer Farmers Market.
This week’s purveyors include London Vale Farm, which will add snap peas and regular shelling peas to its spread of kale, chard, lettuce, spring onions, plant starts, potatoes, cucumbers, and more. Rex Farm will feature strawberries, asparagus, broccoli rabe, Fuji and Golden Delicious apples as well as a variety of sauces, juices, and butters.
Rambling Roots Farm is bringing head lettuce, spring onions, beets, a variety of bagged greens – including spring mix, Swiss chard and bok choy – parsley, mushrooms, and a small amount of strawberries while
Shadygrove Greenhouses, which moved toward the intersection of State and Union to a bigger space, will have its bounty of hanging plants, perennials, cut bouquets and more for your garden or centerpiece.
La Cucina Verde, a bi-weekly vendor, returns with salsa, kurry kraut, kimchi, and 3-D Kraut while Taste Artisanal features rosemary fig chevre and muhammara, a Lebanese red pepper spread. Meadowset Farm returns with Camel’s Back, a mild, nutty Basque-style cheese; Last Straw, a pecorino-style artisanal cheese; grass-fed lamb (ground and chops); and ground beef.
Additional vendors include Chansonette (orchids and epiphytes), Taste Artisanal spreads, Anita’s Guacamole, KAS Cake Emporium, Golden Valley Roasters, Sunset park Gluten-Free/Vegan Cookies, Jack’s Jams and Jellies and Guinea Hen Gardens (eggs, honey and herbs), Maiale Meats, and more.
The Kennett Food Cupboard will also have a presence in the market for those inclined to share their bounty with those less fortunate.
