Two drivers arrested for separate hit-and-runs

Police said both were unlicensed and left accident scene

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADavid Perez-Romero, 28, of Avondale, was arrested May 24 in connection with a hit-and-run accident on May 8 at 5:50 p.m. at North Mill Road and West Sickle Street, Kennett Square police said. He faces multiple offenses, including drivers required to be licensed, failing to observe stop and yield signs, and ignoring the duty to give Information and render aid, police said.

Police said they arrested Modesto Bernal-Castaneda, 24, of Toughkenamon, on May 31 for an accident involving damage, drivers required to be licensed, and failure to comply with traffic signals. Bernal Castaneda left the scene of a crash at East Cypress and South Broad Streets on May 27 at 4:44 p.m., police said.

Veronica Renteria-Mojica, 21, of Kennett Square, was cited for violating a borough ordinance On May 27, police said. Renteria-Mojica is accused of allowing her dog to bark continuously for hours, police said.

An incident on May 27 at 11:30 p.m.  in the 500 block of Hazel Avenue led to the arrest of  Matthew Anglim 24, of Springfield, for simple assault, harassment, and recklessly endangering another person, police said.

An investigation is underway into the theft of a roll of electrical wire from the 100 block of Lafayette Street that was reported on May 31 at 11:15 a.m., police said.

Miguel Sierra-Hernandez, 36, of Avondale, was arrested for driving under the influence on June 1 at 1:33 a.m. in the 100 block of West Cypress Street, police said.

State police from the Avondale barracks said they took Mario Zurita Rodriguez, 24, of Toughkenamon, into custody on June 1 at 1:21 a.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Rodriguez was detained after a traffic stop on Rt. 41, south of Crossan Lane in New Garden Township, police said.
