Police: Borough man’s inebriation prompts records’ check that shows bench warrant
On June 8 at 9:51 p.m., Kennett Square police cited Alejandro Lopez, 42, of Kennett Square, for public drunkenness in the 100 block of East South Street, police said. Officers determined that Lopez had a bench warrant from Chester County, and he was released to constables for transport to Chester County Prison, police said.
A fugitive from justice was taken into custody on June 8 at 6:14 p.m., Kennett Square police said. Alex Villafane, 18, of West Chester, wanted for a warrant in Delaware, was arraigned and transported to Chester County Prison after he was unable to post $15,000 cash bail, police said.
Gregory Leeber, 45, of Kennett Square, was arrested for suspected drunken driving following a traffic stop in the 600 block of East Cypress Street on June 9 at 2:24 a.m., police said, adding that he was released at his residence.
Police said Jose Gomez-Martinez, 29, of Kennett Square, was arrested for terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment on June 17 at 8:02 a.m. for an incident that occurred in the 500 block of Center Street. Gomez-Martinez was arraigned and released on $5,000 unsecured bail, police said.
Police are investigating a theft reported on June 18 that occurred sometime between 12 a.m. on June 14 and 3 pm. on June 16, police said. A generator and shovel were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Dalmatian Lane, police said.
State police from the Avondale barracks responded to a one-vehicle crash on June 19 at 1:35 p.m. on U.S. 1, west of North Walnut Road in Kennett Township, police said. A 2008 Hyundai Elantra driven by Viola A. Schneider, 66, of Derby, Ct., was traveling south on U.S. 1, and “for unknown reasons” left the roadway and landed in a ditch, police said. Schneider, who was not injured, was cited for careless driving, police said.
State police also cited a Kennett Square driver for a one-vehicle crash on Kaolin Road, west of Caldwell Lane, on June 19 at 9:24 p.m., police said. Luis M. Oceguera Cintora, 31, was traveling north when “an unknown car malfunction occurred,” causing his 1997 Honda Civic to veer off the roadway and strike an embankment, police said. Oceguera Cintora was not injured, but the car sustained disabling damage, police said.
