17-year-old reportedly found in possession of weapon
While investigating a curfew violation in the 400 block of East South Street on Sunday at 12:02 a.m., Kennett Square police said they found a 17-year-old borough resident in possession of a handgun. The juvenile was charged and committed to the Chester County Juvenile Detention Center, police said.
Also during the same investigation, a 17-year-old male from Avondale gave police a false name; he has been referred to juvenile probation for false identification to law enforcement, police said.
Borough police said they are investigating a theft that reportedly occurred sometime between July 4 and 5. Several plants were stolen from the planters along East and West State Streets, police said.
Sometime between 8 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. on July 10, someone attempted to break into a residence located in the 400 block of Meredith Street, police said, adding that an investigation is continuing.
Also under investigation is a theft of sunglasses from a business located in the 100 block of Race Street sometime between. 5:45 and 6:20 p.m. on July 11, police said.
Eugene Boddy, 37, of Kennett Square, was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct for an incident that occurred on July 13 at 11:30 a.m. in the 200 block of East State Street, police said, adding that Boddy was released to a relative.
Police said they are investigating a vehicle break-in between 4:30 and 6:50 p.m. on July 13 in the 600 block of South Walnut Street that resulted in the theft of a purse containing books, headphones, a notebook, markers and crayons.
Kennett Square police cited Jose Zavala-Guzman, 30, of Kennett Square, for disorderly conduct for an incident that occurred on July 13 at 10:20 p.m. in the 500 block of Center Street, police said.
State police from the Avondale barracks said they arrested a Kennett Square man on July 14 at 5:24 p.m. on Grist Mill Lane in Upper Oxford Township. Bruce S. Mano, 57, was charged with harassment and criminal mischief, stemming from a domestic dispute, police said.
