Two men who entered the CVS Pharmacy on Newark Road on Monday had plans to steal, not shop, said New Garden Township Police, who are seeking the public’s help to identify the suspected thieves.

Police said the thefts occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. and again at 6:41 p.m. at the pharmacy, located in the 700 block of Newark Road, at the intersection with Rt. 41.

The men were captured on video surveillance cameras walking into the store, police said. After a few minutes, the first suspect with the mustache and goatee approached the counter to make a purchase while his ponytailed companion entered deeper into the store, police said.

Police said the store manager said the ponytailed suspect exited the store a few moments later with an obvious bulge under his sweatshirt – believed to be two boxed hairdryers valued together at $50. His accomplice left the store seconds later, police said.

Hours later, the first suspect was observed on video surveillance reentering the premises, without his gray sweatshirt, police said. He grabbed a grocery basket, loaded it with approximately 28 cans of baby formula, left the store without paying, and got into a white four-door sedan, believed to be a Dodge or Pontiac, police said. The car headed toward Rt. 41, police said, estimating the loss at $800 to $850.

The first suspect, described as a white, 20-something male with a mustache and goatee and short receding brown hair, was wearing white and black or blue plaid shorts, a teal polo shirt, and a gray zip-up sweatshirt, police said. The second suspect is believed to be a white male in his teens or early 20s with brown hair pulled into a ponytail. He was wearing tan cargo shorts, a dark t-shirt, and a red zippered, hooded sweatshirt, police said.

Police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspects to contact them at 610-268-2907, ext. 100, or the department’s anonymous Crime Tip Line at 610-268-2907, ext. 222.
