As TV cameras roll, members of the Kennett High football team attempt to generate excitement among students for tonight’s game.

Tonight’s Kennett-Avon Grove football matchup will feature lights, cameras, and action – not to mention free admission.

In addition to marking the debut of the high school’s new stadium lights, the contest garnered the most votes – 48 percent of the 55,000 cast for three different contenders – to win “Game of the Week” designation, a feature of “NBC10 High School Blitz,” a new show that starts Saturday.

A district news release said footage filmed Thursday at the school will be shown during tonight’s 5 p.m. news broadcast, and highlights of the game will appear on the 11 p.m. show. More coverage will be featured during the Saturday program.

The free admission celebrates the accomplishment of the Demon Lights Committee, which raised $225,000 for metal halide lamps that will shine onto the field from 70-foot poles. The game has been dubbed “White Out,” and the first 500 attendees will receive white T-shirts to commemorate the event. The gates will open at 6 p.m.
