Four adults, one juvenile cited after altercation at mushroom wharf

IMG_0297On Sept. 9 at 10:46 p.m., New Garden Township Police responded to a possible stabbing in the 1000 block of Newark Road.  Upon arrival, police said they quickly ascertained that no subjects had been stabbed; however, they determined that a physical altercation had taken place on a mushroom wharf.

Police said the following suspects were cited and released pending an appearance in district court: Omar Lopez-Sosa, 22, of West Grove, for disorderly conduct; Cesar Sanchez, 22, of Kennett Square, for disorderly conduct; and Hernan Camacho-Lopez, 19, and Armando Camacho-Lopez, 18, both of Kennett Square, for underage drinking. A 14-year-old from Toughkenamon, whose name was not released, was also cited for underage drinking and released to parents, police said.

On Saturday at 10:30 p.m., police said they observed a motor vehicle on Baltimore Pike moving erratically.   After observing the motor vehicle cross the double yellow line and white fog line, police stopped the vehicle at Bancroft Road and made contact with the operator, Roger Marrs, 45, of Kennett Square, who was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence, police said. Marrs was released pending an appearance in district court, police said.

On Sunday, police responded at 9:01 p.m. to a report of a domestic dispute in the 200 block of Line Road.  Upon arrival, police discovered that Alejandro Leon, 22, of Kennett Square had been in an altercation with a relative, police said.  Leon was cited for harassment and released pending an appearance in district court.

New Garden Township Police want to remind residents to take precautions as an increased number of thefts from unlocked vehicles have occurred throughout the township.  The northeastern section of the township experienced the thefts overnight Tuesday, Sept. 10 into Wednesday, Sept. 11.  The southeastern section experienced several incidents overnight on Sunday Sept. 15 into Monday, Sept. 16, police said

Not all vehicles that were entered had items taken, police said.  Loose change seemed to be the most common thing taken although electronics have also been stolen.  Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles, even when inside a garage.  Vehicles should be locked, if possible, parked in a garage or underneath overhead lighting.  Do not leave valuables or cash in the vehicle, especially in plain sight.  Report any suspicious behavior immediately by calling 9-1-1 or 610-268-3171, police said.
