After an investigation and subsequent search, police said they recovered the following items from Kayla Bauer, 21, of Lancaster: a bag of brown vegetable matter, consistent with psilocybin mushrooms, used as a hallucinogenic; three wax paper packets of heroin; and a wrapper labeled Suboxone.  Bauer was taken into custody without incident, charged with possession of the illegal narcotics, and released pending a preliminary hearing on Oct. 25, court records said.

On Sept. 14, at 10:52 p.m., officers observed a vehicle speeding and driving erratically in the 1200 block of Newark Road, prompting a traffic stop, New Garden Township Police said. Upon contact with the driver, Juan Colin-Garduno, 32, of Kennett Square, police said they detected an odor of alcohol, and after Colin-Garduno failed field sobriety tests, he was arrested for driving under the influence and released pending an appearance in district court, police said. New Garden Township Police responded on Sept. 18 at 3:15 p.m. to a disturbance in the 100 block of Santilli Road, police said.  Upon arrival, a woman said that she was visiting her brother to help with work approved by the landlord when Gregory Eastridge, 50, of Avondale, approached the pair and proceeded to yell profanities, police said.  Eastridge, who admitted to the incident, was cited for disorderly conduct, police said.

On Sept. 18 at 11:59 p.m., a vehicle was observed driving erratically on Newark Road in the area of the Toughkenamon Village, police said, resulting in a traffic stop at Newark Road and Gap Newport Pike.  The driver consented to a search of the vehicle, which led to the discovery of 25 cans and two bottles of beer, police said.  The driver, Khorey Moore, 18, of Newark, De., was charged with possession of alcoholic beverages and released pending an appearance in district court, police said.

Responding to a reported hit-and-run accident on Sept. 20 at 1:13 p.m. at Gap Newport Pike and Limestone Road, New Garden Township Police Department learned that the striking vehicle was a silver Infiniti, which had sustained front-end damage from the collision. Prior to the accident, another motorist had reported an erratic driver in a silver Infiniti with Ohio registration.  That vehicle was later stopped in West Fallowfield Township, and the driver, Wayne Holett, 21, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was detained and then taken into custody for leaving the scene of an accident, police said.  Hoilett was arraigned and released on $5,000 unsecured bail, police said.

New Garden Township Police responded to Limestone and Kaolin Roads for a report of a vehicle that had left the roadway on Sept. 21 at 9:16 p.m., police said.  Upon arrival, officers made contact with the operator of the vehicle, Antonio Gaytan-Almanza, 30, of Avondale, who exhibited signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming alcohol, police said.  Gaytan-Almanza was taken into custody for driving under the influence without incident; he was later released pending an appearance in district court, police said.

On Sept. 22, at 3:36 p.m., police arrested Luz Rodriguez,  44, of Toughkenamon without incident for public drunkenness.  Rodriguez was transported to his home and released pending an appearance in district court.

The New Garden Township Police Department want to remind residents about a continuing increase in thefts from unlocked vehicles throughout the township. The most common target appears to be loose change, police said. Vehicles should be locked, even if inside a garage; if a garage is not an option, make sure vehicles are parked underneath overhead lighting.  Do not leave valuables or cash in the vehicle, especially in plain sight, police said. Finally, report any suspicious behavior immediately by calling 9-1-1 or 610-268-3171.
