Three worthy causes to benefit from fund-raiser’s proceeds
An 18th-century zombie and a “cereal” killer were among the scary creatures that got a jump on Halloween last weekend for the Kennett Square Lions Club Morning Branch’s Fourth Annual Fright Feast.
Held on Oct. 19 on the upper floor of the Northbrook Marketplace – which was transformed into a temporary home for ghosts, goblins, ghouls and otherworldly beings – the fund-raiser attracted more than 80 costumed guests. In addition to a spooky atmosphere, they were treated to the live music of Geri Smith and Jim Daughton, hors d’oeuvres and a buffet prepared by Northbrook Marketplace, plus plenty of liquid spirits, including beer donated by Victory Brewing Company.
In addition, a silent auction offered many desirable items donated by local businesses and individuals, according to a news release from Camp Dreamcatcher, one of the event’s beneficiaries. The evening raised approximately $15,000, which will be distributed to the Kennett Adult Literacy Program, Camp Dreamcatcher, and the Lions Club, the release said, expressing thanks to the many donors and volunteers.
