A Kennett Square father who lost his 23-year-old daughter to a heroin overdose earlier this year will bring his quest to raise awareness about the dangers of this readily available drug to the New Garden Township Building on Thursday, Nov. 21.

Andy Rumford, who founded Kacie’s Cause in honor of Kacie E. Rumford, will host a community meeting from 7 to 9 p.m.at the township building, which is located at 299 Starr Rd., Landenberg, 19350.

Rumford, whose research indicates that heroin can be obtained effortlessly at numerous area venues such as such as Kennett High School, has held similar gatherings with overflow crowds. He said half of the program will be devoted to audience participation so people are invited to share their experiences.

The meeting is open to the public, not just New Garden Township residents. An RSVP to andy.kaciescause@gmail.com would be appreciated but is not required. For more information on Rumford’s crusade to end the scourge of heroin, visit www.kaciescause.com.
