Rose A. Diaz, 64, is accused of selling prescription drugs without a license from her Kennett Square home, police said.

After a nearly five-month investigation, Kennett Square Police announced the arrest of a 64-year-old female borough resident, who is accused of selling prescription medications out of her home.

A news release from the Kennett Square Police Department said Rose A. Diaz was selling the prescription painkillers Oxycodone and Percocet without a license from her residence. She was taken into custody along with Victor Nova-Castaneda, 27, on Friday, Nov. 15, after the execution of a search warrant, the release said. Police said Nova-Castaneda, believed to be a boarder, had an ounce of suspected marijuana in his possession.

Police found miscellaneous prescription medications and suspected marijuana at the residence during the execution of the warrant, the release said. Diaz has been charged with five counts of delivery and possession with the intent to deliver prescription medication and one count of criminal use of a communication device, the release said.

Diaz was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Matthew Seavy and committed to Chester County Prison until Wednesday, Nov. 20, when she posted $15,000 cash bail and was released to await a preliminary hearing on Nov. 26, court records said.  Nova-Castaneda was arraigned on the marijuana possession charge and committed to Chester County Prison in lieu of $5,000 cash bail; his preliminary hearing is also scheduled for Nov. 26, court records said.

Kennett Square Police were assisted in the investigation by the Chester County Detectives and the District Attorney’s Office, the release said.
