New Garden officer reportedly finds marijuana in woman’s possession
A female’s vomiting from a vehicle on Sunday, Dec 1, at 12:59 a.m., caught the attention of a New Garden officer in the 8900 block of Gap Newport Pike, police said. Upon contact with the subject, Alicia Stoneback 21, of Lincoln University, police said they observed a clear plastic baggie containing a green vegetable matter stuffed into the dashboard compartment. Suspecting marijuana, the officer retrieved the baggie, which contained a half-smoked marijuana cigar, police said. Stoneback was arrested and released pending an appearance in district court, police said.
On Saturday, Nov. 30, at 10:12 p.m., a New Garden Township police officer observed a vehicle driving erratically in the 9100 block of Gap Newport Pike, police said. The vehicle swerved over the double yellow center lines into the oncoming lane, and the driver appeared to be moving around inside the vehicle, police said. A traffic stop was conducted in the 100 block of Sunnydell Road after the vehicle made an abrupt left turn without using a turning signal. The officer made contact with the driver, Andrew Gotschall, 27 of Oxford, who displayed bloodshot eyes, smelled of alcohol, and had an open bottle of whiskey on the passenger’s seat, police said. Gotschall was taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests, processed, and released pending an appearance in district court, police said.
On Thursday, Nov. 28, at 9:15 p.m., a New Garden officer observed a vehicle driving erratically at the intersection of Newark Road and Starr Road, where it sped around a turn, causing the tires to squeal and the vehicle to fishtail, police said. The vehicle continued westbound driving in the center of the roadway, and a traffic stop was conducted at Starr and Penn Green Roads, police said. The driver, Jose Gutierrez-Nunez, 27, of West Grove, demonstrated multiple signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests, police said. Gutierrez-Nunez was taken into custody, processed, and released pending an appearance in district court, police said.
A New Garden officer travelling westbound on Baltimore Pike on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 4:45 p.m. observed a vehicle travelling at a very slow rate of speed in the opposite direction, police said. The vehicle was observed drifting over the double yellow lines into the opposite lane of travel before abruptly jerking back into the travel lane, police said. A traffic stop was conducted in the 700 block of West Cypress Street, and the driver, Edder Pelico, 29 of Kennett Square, showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests, police said. Pelico was taken into custody without incident, processed, and released pending an appearance in district court, police said.
