The Opening Ceremony Cardigan will be paired with a cream cotton turtleneck sweater, slim-fitting white fleece athletic pants, sporty black leather boots with red laces and a cotton belt accented with jacquard tape featuring patriotic graphics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oh my.\u00a0 Refined?\u00a0 Even the description seems frenetic. \u00a0(Kudos for mentioning that our Olympic uniform was MADE IN AMERICA.\u00a0 Rare these days)<\/p>\n<p>I understand the need to stand out when you are marching en masse in a gigantic arena, but a patchwork boyfriend sweater would not be my first choice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Kelly2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"Kelly2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Kelly2-300x200.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>How is it that<b> Serbia <\/b>(with their 15 athletes) did it better, America?\u00a0 OK, there\u2019s room for improvement, but THIS is the way to do red, white and blue!<\/p>\n<p>There were a few other \u201cbetter\u201d (and I use the term loosely) options:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Kelly3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" alt=\"Kelly3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Kelly3-300x214.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" \/><\/a>Lithuania<\/b>.\u00a0 The choice of color combo is odd, BUT they are bright and cheerful!\u00a0 I like the pom-pom hat and the fact that the women\u2019s jacket nips at the waist!\u00a0 Nod to fashion sense!\u00a0 I give it a bronze.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Kelly4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"Kelly4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Kelly4-300x216.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"216\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Sweden<\/b>. Designed by H&amp;M (one of my favs!) \u00a0I love the bright asymmetrical coat and pop of yellow.\u00a0 The funky Spandex legging is a design made for an athletic physique!\u00a0 They work hard for that body!\u00a0 I give it a silver.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Kelly5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" alt=\"Kelly5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Kelly5-300x171.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"171\" \/><\/a><\/b><b>Canada<\/b>.\u00a0 This is striking without being over-the-top.\u00a0 Personally, I would have liked to see a bit of white in the jacket, however, overall this is gold.\u00a0 The mittens are adorable and black pants are better than white fleece in my book.\u00a0 Not a fan of the Addidas.\u00a0 A fur lined black boot would have been perfection.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Some of my other favorites\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Kelly6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"Kelly6\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Kelly6-300x229.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"229\" \/><\/a>Germany<\/b>.\u00a0 I am choosing to think that they wore this as a high five to Rainbow Pride!\u00a0 At least I hope so\u2026otherwise, I don\u2019t get it. \u00a0Are the girls wearing flowered pajama bottoms?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Kelly7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" alt=\"Kelly7\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Kelly7-300x219.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"219\" \/><\/a>France<\/b>.\u00a0 OK, I actually laughed out loud when they marched in.\u00a0 Only the French would wear pressed tailored khakis and a blazer designed as outerwear.\u00a0 I\u2019m surprised they weren\u2019t smoking!<\/p>\n<p>What did YOU think of the Opening Ceremony?<\/p>\n<p>Leave your comments below!<\/p>\n<p>HAPPY WEEKEND!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>America owned by pretty much every other country when it comes to Olympic fashion By Kelly Hockenberry, Columnist, The Times Olympic\u2026fashion???
