{"id":11693,"date":"2014-04-18T09:56:24","date_gmt":"2014-04-18T13:56:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/?p=11693"},"modified":"2014-04-17T16:04:59","modified_gmt":"2014-04-17T20:04:59","slug":"police-wrong-way-driver-in-stolen-vehicle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/?p=11693","title":{"rendered":"Police: Wrong-way driver in stolen vehicle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium;\">New Garden Township officers say Wilmington man was also intoxicated<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11695\" style=\"width: 88px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Screen-Shot-2014-04-17-at-3.35.46-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11695\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11695\" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-04-17 at 3.35.46 PM\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Screen-Shot-2014-04-17-at-3.35.46-PM.png\" width=\"78\" height=\"73\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11695\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Juan Garcia-Posada<\/p><\/div>\n<p>On Tuesday, April 8, at 11:45 p.m., a New Garden Township officer observed a vehicle travelling westbound on Baltimore Pike in the eastbound lane of travel, police said.\u00a0 A traffic stop was conducted in the 1700 block of Baltimore Pike, and the officer made contact with the driver, Juan Garcia-Posada, 23, of Wilmington, who exhibited multiple signs of intoxication.<\/p>\n<p>Garcia-Posada was arrested after failing field sobriety tests, and during the investigation, police said they determined that he was operating a vehicle that had been reported as stolen in New Castle County.\u00a0 Garcia-Posada was arraigned on charges of receiving stolen property and driving under the influence and remanded to Chester County Prison after failing to post bail, police said.<!--more--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11694\" style=\"width: 87px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Screen-Shot-2014-04-17-at-3.36.28-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11694\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11694\" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-04-17 at 3.36.28 PM\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Screen-Shot-2014-04-17-at-3.36.28-PM.png\" width=\"77\" height=\"84\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11694\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cesar Ramirez<\/p><\/div>\n<p>On Wednesday, April 9, at 4:41 p.m., a New Garden Township officer observed a vehicle travelling on Newark Road make an abrupt stop and turn into a driveway in the 1000 block without using a turn signal, police said.\u00a0 A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was observed making furtive movements into back seat area of the truck, police said.\u00a0 Contact was made with the driver, Cesar Ramirez, 32, of Toughkenamon, who handed the officer a Mexican ID card that contained what appeared to be powder cocaine on the bottom, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Consent to search the vehicle was obtained, and the officer located a cigarette pack containing a small clear bag containing more suspected cocaine from the back seat, police said.\u00a0 Ramirez was taken into custody without incident, processed, and released pending an appearance in district court, police said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11696\" style=\"width: 90px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Screen-Shot-2014-04-17-at-4.01.37-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11696\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11696 \" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" alt=\"Yordy Hernandez\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Screen-Shot-2014-04-17-at-4.01.37-PM.png\" width=\"80\" height=\"90\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11696\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Yordy Hernandez<\/p><\/div>\n<p>New Garden Township officers were dispatched on April 12, at 12:04 p.m., to a two-vehicle accident in the 8700 block of Gap Newport Pike, police said.\u00a0 The striking vehicle attempted to leave the scene but became stuck in the grass along the roadside, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses stated that the vehicle travelled into the oncoming lane of traffic and struck the vehicle which had stopped in an attempt avoid a collision, police said.\u00a0 Police said the driver of the striking vehicle, Yordy Hernandez, 19, of Avondale, was observed to have glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol.
