Annual run raises money for area charities<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Runners take off from the start of The Kennett Run, Saturday. The annual road racing in Kennett Square race event helps raise funds for a number of local charities.<\/p><\/div>\n

KENNETT SQUARE \u2014 On Saturday, the borough was taken over by a lively and sporty event involving thousands \u00a0of \u00a0people in our area.<\/p>\n

Route 82 in Kennett was filled with all ages and from the extended local area, all for The Kennett Run. \u00a0 Eventually after a bit of time and some suffering(hills!) the community event ended up at a big party in the lovely Anson B. Nixon Park.<\/p>\n

Saturday’s event was a big success once again for the race director and her committee of all volunteers who work hard all year long to pull off this large racing event.<\/p>\n

The Power Run this year was dedicated to Joe Hector, a beloved friend to many who organize and run the race. \u00a0Joe worked at the YMCA and was a fitness expert who befriended all who worked out at the Y and had a smile consistently on his face. Sadly Joe passed away a year ago in April. \u00a0The Powe Run is an event that is combined with either the 5 k or 10 k and time is subtracted from your overall time depending on how many reps you lifted of your total weight of the men and a percentage of their weight for the women.<\/p>\n

The money that is raised from the event is divided up between charity groups in our area. \u00a0The sign at the stage said they have granted 536 k since the event has been established.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

All results for each race from Saturday can be viewed below. \u00a0Nova Systems was able to fix \u00a0the glitch that occurred in the timing system.<\/p>\n
