Confessions of a mom struggling to keep up\u00a0with a new school year<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\"UTKellyColumn<\/a>Aaaaaah, another school year has begun!\u00a0 While I am sad to see summer end, I always appreciate the structure and routine the fall semester brings.\u00a0 By mid-winter, I\u2019m over it, so, best to embrace these happy feelings now.<\/p>\n

I feel extremely lucky that our boys receive their education in the Unionville Chadds Ford School District. \u00a0The program is top notch and nationally recognized!\u00a0 Read all about their stellar academic prowess here: http:\/\/bit.ly\/1sRrOmA<\/a><\/p>\n

The only problem?<\/p>\n

Unionville = A+<\/p>\n

Kelly = F<\/p>\n

Yes, you read that correctly. \u00a0I am the tarnish on the Unionville trophy.\u00a0 It\u2019s parents like me that keep us from Number 1, I\u2019m sure.<\/p>\n

There is just SO much to do when school starts.\u00a0 It intimidates me.\u00a0 Signing the slew of syllabuses (syllabi?), registering for InfoSnap\u00a0 (I think that the district wide \u201creminder\u201d will soon read \u201cDear Mrs. Hockenberry\u201d), buying\u00a0 $400,000 dollars\u2019 worth of school supplies\u00a0 (why do eighth graders need tissues? Can\u2019t they excuse themselves and blow their noses in the bathroom for pete\u2019s sake?)\u00a0 The magazine drive?\u00a0 Ummmmm, no son, you will definitely NOT be \u201cwinning the i-Pad\u201d on that one.\u00a0 Don\u2019t get me started on the Phone Directory.\u00a0 I have forgotten to get my check in on time for approximately 6 out of the 8 years we have been in the district.\u00a0 If you need my info, dust off your 2008 book.<\/p>\n

The one thing we do have down pat is SAM.\u00a0 We (meaning my husband) micro-manage the hell out of our children\u2019s grades.\u00a0 There\u2019s an app for that, ya know.\u00a0 I think the icon is a helicopter pad.\u00a0 But, in our defense, it is only because the pressure is on to get our kids into great colleges that we can\u2019t afford so that all of this amazing education doesn\u2019t go to waste\u2026<\/p>\n

Put me in for Saturday detention for my failing behavior, Dr. Sanville.\u00a0 I could use a few hours of peace and quiet with my head on my desk.<\/p>\n
