Kennett High\u2019s football juggernaut continues to steamroll over the competition, this time flattening the Chichester Eagles<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Anthony<\/a>KENNETT SQUARE \u2014 It was the best of times, it was the worst of times\u2026for Kennett and Chichester, respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the cancellation of Friday night\u2019s game due to inclement weather, the Blue Demons took to the field on a soggy Saturday morning to square off against Chichester\u2019s Eagles, an encounter that added momentum\u00a0to Kennett\u2019s three-game winning streak.<\/span><\/p>\n

But boy was it ugly for Chichester; so much so that midway through the third quarter\u00a0the mercy rule was put into effect. Any soaring hopes that the Eagles had of pulling out a W against the powerhouse Demons (3-1) were laid to rest at that moment, when they flew blindly into the proverbial windshield.<\/span><\/p>\n

Oh, the humanity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Almost immediately after the game began,Chichester threw a misplaced pass which resulted in an interception thanks to the quick maneuvering of Art Perrone. Perrone took it all the way to the end zone, scoring an early Kennett TD. The extra point was good and the Demons were on the board, 7-0.<\/span><\/p>\n

Back to back touchdowns from Jordan\u00a0Lardani served to put Chichester deeper into the hole while also giving the Demons a comfortable lead at the end of the first quarter, 20-7.<\/span><\/p>\n

The game, which at times felt like a massacre, continued with the trend of Kennett domination and featured significant gains in yardage by Anthony Torello, Barry Tomassetti Jr., and Jordan\u00a0Lardani along with interceptions by Stephen Masha and Brandon Liddick that had to make one wonder whether the Eagles could recognize their own players on the field.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe ran the ball real well. We also took advantage of all the openings in their lines,\u201d Anthony Torello said of the strategy that made the Demons victorious on the overcast Saturday morning.<\/span><\/p>\n

By the end of the third quarter Kennett had an imposing lead of 53-7. The mercy rule was issued and the rookies from the Demons sideline were deployed to try their luck against the ailing Eagles.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even with a few parting shots from Chichester, it was still\u00a0a\u00a0huge win for Kennett with a final score of 53-23.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a total team effort,\u201d Green said,\u201d Our defense picked us up, we made the right adjustments when we needed to, and that resulted in a win\u2026I give credit to Chi, they have good players and they were eager to get on the board.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

With the shadow of the dreaded the West Chester Rustin Knights \u2014 fresh off a win over Unionville \u2014 looming on the horizon, the Demons will have to take whatever confidence they can from their recent victory and steel themselves for what may be the most challenging match up of their season.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
