{"id":13293,"date":"2014-09-30T16:17:22","date_gmt":"2014-09-30T20:17:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/?p=13293"},"modified":"2014-09-30T16:17:22","modified_gmt":"2014-09-30T20:17:22","slug":"county-wide-hazardous-waste-collection-oct-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/?p=13293","title":{"rendered":"County-wide hazardous waste collection, Oct. 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/RecycingLogo-300x300.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-953274\" alt=\"RecycingLogo\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/RecycingLogo-300x300.jpg\" \/><\/a>WESTTOWN \u2014 All 73 Chester County municipalities are hosting a Household Hazardous\u00a0Waste and Computer Collection Event for Chester County residents on Saturday, October\u00a011 at the Government Services Center, 601 Westtown Road, West Chester, PA 19380.<\/p>\n<p>The collection site will be open at 9:00AM and will close at 3:00PM sharp.\u00a0This event is not for businesses and contractors.<\/p>\n<p>Residents may bring old TV&#8217;s and computers and peripherals and no more than 220\u00a0pounds or 25 gallons of Hazardous Products per household. Hazardous cleaning and\u00a0maintenance products will have the following cautionary words on the label: poisonous,\u00a0caustic, toxic, flammable, ignitable, corrosive, reactive, caution, warning, danger or\u00a0hazardous. Only intact and whole TV&#8217;s will be accepted.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Unacceptable materials are latex paint, used motor oil, tires, asbestos, explosives, gas\u00a0cylinders, household alkaline batteries, PCBs, medical waste, unidentified waste,\u00a0commercial and industrial, explosives, ammunition and appliances containing Freon or\u00a0liquids in 55 gallon drums.<\/p>\n<p>Latex paint is not hazardous waste! Residents should not bring latex\u00a0paint to Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events. Solidify latex paint by either air\u00a0drying small quantities or pouring the paint into a plastic trash bag with sawdust, claybased\u00a0kitty litter, rags or saw dust and placing the bag and the opened can in the trash.<\/p>\n<p>Oil-based paint should be brought to a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees should be prepared to take back their corrugated boxes to be recycled at the\u00a0curb and Styrofoam and\/or trash to be put in their curbside trash containers.<\/p>\n<p>Interested residents can visit www.chestercountyswa.org or call their municipality or the\u00a0Chester County Solid Waste Authority at 610-273-3771 ext. *228 for information on how\u00a0to properly handle unacceptable materials and for the other regional collection events scheduled.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WESTTOWN \u2014 All 73 Chester County municipalities are hosting a Household Hazardous\u00a0Waste and Computer Collection Event for Chester County residents on Saturday, October\u00a011 at the Government Services Center, 601 Westtown Road, West Chester, PA 19380.
