A few questions and my thoughts on a few fashion issues<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\"UTKellyColumn<\/a>I often get frantic text messages from my friends asking for fashion advice. I am by no means\u00a0an expert, I\u2019m just opinionated, bossy and brutally honest. I guess that counts for something\u00a0though, right?<\/p>\n

Anyway, in this upcoming busy season of high school reunions, fall weddings and holiday\u00a0parties, I thought I\u2019d run down a list of the most frequently asked questions and my sage\u00a0advice\u2026<\/p>\n

Question:<\/strong> \u201cHow can I switch up my look without spending a fortune?\u201d<\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong> Make-up! Invest in a new eye shadow palette with shades of copper, gold and\u00a0brown. These colors are generally flattering to all eye colors. Buy a wine colored lipstick. It is a\u00a0bold departure from a classic red and provides instant gratification.<\/p>\n

\"Article<\/a>Question:<\/strong> \u201cHow do you style a scarf?\u201d<\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong> There are a million YouTube videos on step-by-step, unique scarf tying tips. My\u00a0favorite, however, is a plaid, blanket style wound around my neck twice and thrown over a white\u00a0button-down blouse. Couldn\u2019t be easier.<\/p>\n

Question<\/strong>: \u201cI\u2019m growing out my hair and I\u2019m frustrated. What do I do with it for a party?\u201d<\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong> The top knot. With bangs or without, this style is great because the messier it is,\u00a0the better it looks. I love wearing my hair this way with a bright lip and big earrings. Keep your\u00a0other accessories to a minimum.<\/p>\n

Question:<\/strong> \u201cI have a party to go to and want to wear something basic. How can I dress up\u00a0a simple sweater and jeans?\u201d<\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong> Faux fur is one of my all time favorites when the weather gets cold. Throw on a\u00a0fur vest, add a statement necklace and you are ready to go! You can find them everywhere: TJ\u00a0Maxx, the mall, online…they are an inexpensive \u201cmust-have\u201d for your closet.<\/p>\n

Question:<\/strong> \u201cWhat color nail polish should I wear for the fall?\u201d<\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong> I love to try out the saturated, moody hues when the season changes. While\u00a0neutrals are always in fashion, now is the time to experiment with a darker palette.<\/p>\n

Question:<\/strong> \u201cI have a ton of cardigan sweaters. What else can I wear with a t-shirt?\u201d\u00a0Answer: A blazer! Worn inside or as outerwear in milder temperatures, a classically\u00a0tailored blazer is a wardrobe essential. The only other piece that gets as much wear in my\u00a0closet is my jean jacket. Invest in black and navy. You\u2019ll be surprised how often you reach for\u00a0them all year long.<\/p>\n

Question:<\/strong> \u201cIt\u2019s cold. Can I wear stockings?\u201d<\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong> It is my opinion (and I know that many are in disagreement) that the ONLY\u00a0fashionable option is the opaque tight. I think that a nude or colored sheer is dated. I realize that\u00a0Kate Middleton wears them…she is a princess. If you marry Harry, knock yourself out.<\/p>\n

Otherwise, it is a safer bet to stick with the tights. Really.<\/p>\n
