Happy Oklahoma performers share a laugh with The Times and a pre-show stretch.<\/p><\/div>\n

KENNETT SQUARE – Chester County residents have persevered\u00a0through a long, cold, snow-filled week\u00a0complete with school closures and navigating icy roads. This weekend, area residents came out and rallied in support of Kennett High Schools\u2019 (KHS) performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein\u2019 s Oklahoma <\/em>and to also enjoy the historic Borough\u2019s First Friday festivities.<\/p>\n

After months of practices, talented performers, musicians, stage crew and fans suffered a big disappointment when KHS cancelled Thursday\u2019s opening night performance due the snow storm that blanketed the area. However, snow could\u00a0not extinguish home-town pride Friday and Saturday night; \u00a0KHS’ auditorium was packed in support of the more than 100\u00a0hard working cast, musicians and crew. \u00a0The Times<\/em> is pleased to share some of the performance fun in the above slideshow.<\/p>\n

A few blocks away (walking distance…no Surrey with the\u00a0Fringe on Top <\/em>needed…), Kennett Borough\u2019s Mala Galleria hosted a reception celebrating photographer Jie Deng and her The People of Kennett Square<\/em> exhibit as a part of the First Friday stroll special events.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mala Galleria\u2019s warm, inviting, boutique feel was complimented\u00a0by live music from\u00a0Kennett’s own Rose Project Band, light refreshments and a festive crowd.<\/p>\n

The Times<\/em> spoke with guests\u00a0in attendance from West Chester, Philadelphia, Hockessin in addition to locals from Unionville and Kennett. The exhibit features Deng’s poignant\u00a0photography; highlighting twenty \u00a0inspiring Kennett Square residents while also\u00a0showcasing the diversity of this historic\u00a0community. \u00a0The exhibit will run through the end of March. \u00a0Additional\u00a0 information can be found on Galleria’s home page:\u00a0www.malagalleria.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n
