\"\"<\/a>Just like Rip van Winkle, Mr. Nale appears to have been asleep. (referring to his letter of last week).\u00a0 He failed to notice that our township residents have been celebrating the addition of a new 90 acres of preserved land less than a year ago.(Auburn HeightsII)\u00a0 There was NO help from Kennett Township.\u00a0 Yes, in four years the scorecard is:<\/p>\n

Instead, supervisor Falcoff and his buddies made a bumbling attempt to create their “own” land trust in 2010.\u00a0 They had to cancel it a few months later because it had been set up incorrectly.\u00a0 How convenient that Mr. Nale and another supervisor were able to profit financially from tax deductions for their easements before they decided they didn’t like the land trust anymore and set out to destroy it.<\/p>\n

Other projects by The Land Conservancy in Kennett Township include the restoration of the African-American Civil War cemetery, promotion of the Chandler Mill bridge for inclusion on The National Register of Historic Places, and current work on a 12 mile trail in and around the township.<\/p>\n

Please note as well that the land advisory committee that Mr. Nale brags about has apparently been totally unsuccessful—in these four years, they’ve brought no conservation to fruition.\u00a0 On the other hand, three excellent proposals to save more land in Kennett Township put forward by The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County have all been rejected by Mr. Falcoff and the other supervisors (TWICE).\u00a0 Other venerable land trusts such as The Brandywine Conservancy and The Natural Lands Trust have not agreed to collaborate with the township during these crucial years for land preservation<\/p>\n

I served for ten years on the land trust board and lived through the horrors of attacks by the Kennett Township supervisors.\u00a0 This year I resigned to work actively for Scudder Stevens as a supervisor candidate.\u00a0 He has pledged to bring sanity back to land preservation in Kennett Township.<\/p>\n
