Mary-Ellen Allen, Partner &#8211; Lamb McErlane; and Christina Wagoner, Director of Corporate Partnerships &#8211; YMCA of Greater Brandywine.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>WEST CHESTER \u2013 This week, more than 100 professional women gathered at QVC&#8217;s headquarters to network, learn from top female executives and share best practices.\u00a0 This marked\u00a0the third annual conference hosted by Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry\u2019s (CCCBI) Women Influencing Business Committee, and featured record setting attendance.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>CCCBI President and CEO, Guy Ciarrocchi said, \u201cThe Chamber is committed to being a strong thought leader and impacting the economy.\u00a0 Chester County\u2019s economy is extremely important to the region and the state \u2013 home to the largest state employer, Vanguard; QVC\u2019s incredible e-commerce and sales operations, major Biopharma companies, and the state\u2019s largest and cash crop, mushrooms. \u201d He enthusiastically explained that the conference was an ideal example of collaboration between the chamber\u2019s membership and hosted at a member company.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1191655\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cccbi3-300x225.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1191655\" class=\"wp-image-1191655 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cccbi3-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"cccbi3\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1191655\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(Front row, L-R) QVC&#8217;s Chief Information Officer, Linda Dillman, and CCCBI&#8217;s President &amp; CEO, Guy Ciarrocchi take a moment to enjoy time with conference guests.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>QVC\u2019s Chief Information Officer, Linda Dillman and CCCBI\u2019s Vice President of Operations, Marianne Martelli offered a warm and spirited welcome to the group.<\/p>\n<p>Dillman shared, \u201cQVC is a leader in the community and we are pleased to host the 2015 conference\u2026we believe in the power of relationships,\u201d and added, \u201cOn a personal note, I am delighted to support this program; these same events helped my career immensely. \u00a0I believe in mentorships and have benefited from the top leaders who have taken time to teach and invest in me\u2026I applaud CCCBI for organizing this event and the role they play in helping the business climate of our region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martelli received a rousing response to her remarks, \u201cOne of the things I love about women, WE JUST DO IT!\u201d She explained\u00a0that attendees would benefit from CCCBI\u2019s focus on relationship building, and\u00a0the women attending would receive each other\u2019s contact information and also have the opportunity for additional networking during breaks and lunch.<\/p>\n<p>The half-day event featured opening remarks by NBC10s News Today anchor, Tracy Davidson.\u00a0 In addition to being a six-time Emmy winning journalist, Davidson is a sought after empowerment speaker and a recent breast cancer survivor.\u00a0 Her powerful message to attendees was to apply a mantra of \u201c<em>Don\u2019t<\/em> Wait\u201d to every aspect of their lives.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1191656\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cccbi4-300x225.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1191656\" class=\"wp-image-1191656 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cccbi4-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"cccbi4\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1191656\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8216;Modern Day Mentoring&#8217; panelists (L-R): Mary Ellen Harris, Human Resource Manager, Global Tax Management, Inc.; Janet Moran, VP of Human Resources, Krapf Bus Companies &amp; Joy Brown, Digital Technology Executive, Vanguard<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Davidson encouraged women to seek medical help immediately, even when they might be uncertain whether something is wrong; not to hesitate and go pursue those relationships they are hoping to develop, and not to set-aside any personal or professional goals they aspire to. She also encouraged attendees to question, \u201cAm I living the life I want to be living?\u00a0 Am I putting my energy into where I say\u00a0 want to go?\u201d\u00a0 Davidson added, \u201cReach ahead to those a bit ahead of you in their careers, reach behind you to help others and reach out to the people walking beside you to connect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Working sessions included \u2018Get Over Yourself: Owning &amp; Growing your Emotional Intelligence\u2019 presented by Deana Travetti, Senior Director Customer Experience, Comcast Spotlight. \u00a0Emotional intelligence is defined as the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one&#8217;s emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.\u00a0 Great time was spent discussing the impact of emotional intelligence on professional and personal growth, relationships and perspectives.<\/p>\n<p>The topic \u2018Modern Day Mentoring\u2019 was presented by a panel comprised of Mary Ellen Harris, Human Resource Manager, Global Tax Management, Inc.; Janet Moran, VP of Human Resources, Krapf Bus Companies; Joy Brown, Vanguard Digital Technology Executive and was moderated by Betsy Niedziejko- Senior Vice President, Commercial Banking Team Leader, Fulton Bank.\u00a0 Topics covered included were gender differences, mentoring within your organization, and getting the most out of your mentoring relationship.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1191654\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cccbi2-225x300.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1191654\" class=\"wp-image-1191654 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cccbi2-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"cccbi2\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1191654\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NBC10 News Today anchor, empowerment speaker and breast cancer survivor, Tracy Davidson, provides insight from her personal and professional growth.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Harris remarked, \u201cMentoring is self-directed.\u00a0 The most successful mentoring programs were self-directed by people actively seeking out a mentor, who knew their needs and sought out someone with skills they admired.\u201d\u00a0 Brown believes that mentoring relationships were key during transitional points in her career, \u201cMentors give the gift of clear, helpful feedback; often from a perspective that we are just not able to see of ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The morning\u2019s last session focused on salary negotiation in all stages of careers and was presented by Kenya Jacobs, Compensation Manager at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
