Have you noticed? People are posting on Facebook about the number<br \/>\nof Fridays until Christmas (enough already, it is still 80 degrees outside!), the lottery ticket<br \/>\ncommercial featuring Joe and Rita is on TV, and I saw someone on a ladder putting up twinkle<br \/>\nlights just the other day. Aaaaaaaaaaah! Can we slow our roll just a bit and enjoy November?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nIf anything, I would rather start the countdown to Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is my favorite<br \/>\nholiday because there is no pressure to present the perfect gift. It\u2019s all about family and being<br \/>\ngrateful for the wonderful blessings we often take for granted.<a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/KellyColumn415Newest815-251x300-251x300.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1217672\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/KellyColumn415Newest815-251x300-251x300.jpg\" alt=\"KellyColumn415Newest815-251x300\" \/><\/a><!--more--><br \/>\nIt is also a great time of year to help those less fortunate in our community. This week, I would<br \/>\nlike to highlight the Neighbors In Action program developed by the Kennett Senior Center in<br \/>\nconjunction with the Chester County Department of Aging.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This project assists homebound people to give them the help they need to remain autonomous. The list of support services that<br \/>\nvolunteers provide are: transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping, light<br \/>\nhousekeeping, minor house repairs, yard work, reading\/writing assistance, telephone<br \/>\nreassurance, and companion visits.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nAfter a background check and clearance, volunteers are matched with seniors based on their<br \/>\ninterests and preferences. Assistance is provided on an \u201cas requested\u201d, on call basis Monday<br \/>\nthrough Friday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/KASC-NIA_logo_FINAL-300x120.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1217673 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/KASC-NIA_logo_FINAL-300x120.jpg\" alt=\"KASC-NIA_logo_FINAL\" width=\"278\" height=\"111\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nNeighbors in Action relies on its core of volunteers to keep the program afloat.
