The thefts were discovered after Wessells, who had been the company\u2019s Director of Order Fulfillment, was terminated in 2014 for reportedly viewing pornographic materials on a company computer in violation of the company\u2019s sexual harassment policy. The alleged thefts were discovered after that action, authorities said.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIt always comes as a shock to find out that one of your own employees has been stealing from you,\u201d Hogan said in a statement. \u201cBusinesses know how to protect themselves from armed robbers<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">burglars, hackers<\/span><span class=\"s3\">,<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">and other outside threats<\/span><span class=\"s2\">. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">However<\/span><span class=\"s3\">,<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">a business is often most vulnerable to fraud conducted by a trusted insider like the defendant here. At the end of the day, these defendants a<\/span><span class=\"s2\">r<\/span><span class=\"s1\">e always betrayed by their own greed and <\/span>stupidity.<span class=\"s1\">\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">After Wessells was terminated, the company investigated his computer use and reportedly discovered that company product had been diverted. Company officials reported the incident to local law enforcement and the Chester County Detectives began to investigate. Detectives did a forensic review of electronic<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">data at the company, examined financial transactions and and used<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">other investigative techniques in an attempt to determine what had happened. The investigation allegedly revealed that the defendant was stealing products from WPSG and selling them on eBay.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Detectives said that using the eBay account \u201cPower2ol\u201d \u2014 which linked back to a pair of email addressed reportedly used by Wessells \u2014 he shipped items to and from his then-New Castle, Del. home. He is alleged to have stolen nine Aimpoint patrol rifle scopes, which were later identified by serial number, authorities said. Those nine scopes were sold to nine eBay customers, who confirmed the purchases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Investigators said that Wessells stole more than $195,000 worth of products from WPSG, including<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>including more than<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>2,000<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>eBay<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>sales<\/span><span class=\"s5\">. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Detectives<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>seized<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>defendant&#8217;s<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>tax returns,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>which<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>reportedly failed<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>to<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>list<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>any<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>of<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>these<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>sales<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>as<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>legit<\/span><span class=\"s6\">i<\/span><span class=\"s1\">mate<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>income<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>for<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>the defe<\/span><span class=\"s6\">n<\/span><span class=\"s1\">dant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Wessells was arrested and charged w<\/span><span class=\"s6\">i<\/span><span class=\"s1\">th felony theft, dealing in unlawful proceeds, and related offenses<\/span><span class=\"s6\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">This case was investigated by the Chester County Detectives and the Sadsbury Township Police Department.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A New York man has been charged with allegedly stealing $195,000 in products from a Chester County company that supplies police and fire supplies to first responders, Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan said Tuesday.
