Kennett High School will present its annual musical March 10 – 12.\u00a0 This year\u2019s production of the show Beauty and the Beast<\/em> includes a cast of seventy-eight Kennett High School singers, actors, and dancers.\u00a0 Katie Soukup is the music director, and Cindy Albertini is the stage director\/choreographer. Julie Bolten serves as the play\u2019s costume designer and coordinator, and Michael Anastas will manage the lighting and sound crews. Anastas will also supervise the stage crew with Steve Dooley and Steve Castleton.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Adapted from a\u00a0French fairy tale<\/span>, this show, with music by\u00a0Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard\u00a0Ashman\u00a0and\u00a0Tim Rice, and a book by\u00a0Linda Woolverton, first appeared on Broadway in 1994. The musical is the tale of Belle (Olivia Pagliaro), an independent, intelligent woman in a provincial town, and the Beast (Alex Mark), a prince transformed by an enchantress\u2019s spell as punishment for his selfishness. In order to become human again, the prince must learn the meaning of love. If he does not, he will remain transformed for eternity, along with the comedic and clever members of his household: Mrs. Potts (Aubrie Barnett), Lumiere (Danny Drennan), Cogsworth (Jimmy Rosser), Madame de la Grande Bouche (Sami Castleton), Chip (Tamblyn Mitchell), and Babette (Lilian Alba).\"beauty\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Filling out the cast of characters are the town hero Gaston (Austin Maxwell) and his sidekick Le Fou (Ben Skross), Belle\u2019s father Maurice (Colin Petersen), the Silly Girls (Pearl Battalora, Abbie Duckworth, Becca Shoemaker, and Alie Weldon), Madame D\u2019Arque (Diane Brunke), and the Prologue Voiceover (Duncan Smith).<\/p>\n

Audiences will be treated to familiar musical numbers such as \u201cGaston,\u201d \u201cBelle,\u201d \u201cBe Our Guest,\u201d \u201cHuman Again,\u201d and, of course, \u201cBeauty and the Beast.\u201d<\/p>\n

Show times are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 PM.\u00a0 There is also a Saturday matinee at 2:00 PM.\u00a0 Tickets may be reserved in advance (www.kcsd.org<\/a>) or purchased at the door.<\/p>\n
