Larry Boling Award Recipient Rick Smith (center), East Goshen Township with County Commssioners Terence Farrell, Michelle Kichline, Kathi Cozzone, and CCCBI President &amp; CEO, Guy Ciarrocchi.<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">WESTTOWN \u2014 Tuesday afternoon, April 19, brought together more than 200 of Chester County\u2019s top business leaders at Penn Oaks Golf Club for CCCBI\u2019s Annual State of the County Luncheon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Matt O\u2019Donnell, anchor of 6ABC\u2019s Action News, 4:30 am and 7:00 am moderated the panel discussion led by Chester County Commissioners Terence Farrell, Kathi Cozzone, and Michelle Kichline.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Topics included Chester County School Districts, particularly Tredyffrin \u2013 Eastown ranking as the top school district in the United State; business relations with China, Chester County parks, trails, and highways, particularly route 202, which is slated for completion this year, and Vista 2025, which is the effort focused on creating and implementing an economic development strategy for the county.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAs the premier voice of business in Chester County, events like this solidify our relationship with elected officials and business leaders,\u201dGuy Ciarrocchi, CCCBI President &amp; CEO stated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">In the tradition of the event, The J. Larry Boling Award for Excellence in Local Government was presented by former State Senator, County Commissioner and state Republican Committee Chairman, Earl Baker to East Goshen Township Manager Rick Smith. Smith has been employed by East Goshen Township since 1969. In 1980 he was named the Public Works Director and in 1987 he took over as Township Manager, the position he still holds today. Rick has played a pivotal role in the East Goshen\u2019s evolution from a largely rural farming community into the dynamic suburban community that we have today.<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cRick Smith has for a generation been the go-to guy for East Goshen Township,&#8221; Baker said. &#8220;He has led the township, working with his Supervisors, through a challenging period of growth and development, while also providing for the recreation needs of his citizens.\u00a0He always deals with every problem in a direct, effective way.\u00a0He has also been able to keep taxes down while providing exceptional services.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The CCCBI offered thanks to their\u00a0Presenting Sponsors Aqua America and Riley Riper Hollin &amp; Colagreco\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">as well as\u00a0Advocacy sponsors Exelon Generation and Gawthrop Greenwood PC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WESTTOWN \u2014 Tuesday afternoon, April 19, brought together more than 200 of Chester County\u2019s top business leaders at Penn Oaks Golf Club for CCCBI\u2019s Annual State of the County Luncheon.
