{"id":21014,"date":"2016-09-01T15:36:50","date_gmt":"2016-09-01T19:36:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/?p=21014"},"modified":"2016-09-01T15:36:51","modified_gmt":"2016-09-01T19:36:51","slug":"murray-resigns-as-kennett-library-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/?p=21014","title":{"rendered":"Murray resigns as Kennett Library Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1619\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/KPLLogo.jpg\" alt=\"KPLLogo\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/>KENNETT SQUARE \u2014 The search for a new home for the Kennett Library will take place under new leadership: long-time library director Donna Murray resigned Monday, after a decade as the library&#8217;s director \u2014 library board president Thomas Swett announced Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so proud of all that Donna has accomplished in her thirteen years here in Kennett,\u201d Swett said in a statement issued Thursday afternoon. \u201cHer departure is a surprise, but we wish her great success in her new endeavors. She was always a steady hand at the wheel, no matter what the challenges were. Donna will be missed by countless library users, her staff and our Board.\u201d<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Murray, who has been at the library formerly named for local poet Bayard Taylor since 2003, is expected to depart in mid-September \u2014 the board will form a special transition team to both ensure the continued operation of the library, while the board begins a search for a new director.<\/p>\n<p>Murray is credited with\u00a0revamping many of the library\u2019s key services including its children\u2019s and teen\u2019s programs and increased user visits to more than 115,000 per year. Last year, the library was the center of controversy over the name change and what a number of municipalities felt was a lack of transparency in operation.
