{"id":21041,"date":"2016-09-04T09:26:45","date_gmt":"2016-09-04T13:26:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/?p=21041"},"modified":"2016-09-04T09:26:47","modified_gmt":"2016-09-04T13:26:47","slug":"letter-despite-gop-claims-158th-16th-are-in-play","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/?p=21041","title":{"rendered":"Letter: Despite GOP claims, 158th, 16th are in play"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><strong>To The Editor,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1640 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Letters1.jpg\" alt=\"Letters1\" width=\"200\" height=\"140\" \/>The Chester County Democratic Committee believes, just as Mike McGann does, that the 158th is very much in play.\u00a0The first\u00a0endorsed\u00a0Republican candidate for this office withdrew because of falsified petitions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Second choice candidate Eric Roe has serious residency issues that likely disqualify him to run for office in Pennsylvania. His entire employment history indicates eight\u00a0\u2018political jobs\u2019\u00a0in less than eight years, with no private sector job experience. Furthermore, these jobs demonstrate his commitment to Washington, DC-based extremist\u00a0right-wing organizations rather than\u00a0Chester County\u00a0values. Eric Roe is nothing more than another career politician in the making, and the last\u00a0person\u00a0we\u00a0should be sending to\u00a0Harrisburg is\u00a0a \u2018trained\u00a0Washington\u00a0politician\u2019.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Roe supports\u00a0the\u00a0overreach of government in denying women\u2019s access to healthcare services. He has\u00a0also\u00a0come out supporting policies that would degrade our outstanding public schools. I find this quite shocking as Eric Roe is a recent high school graduate from the West Chester Area School District.\u00a0Could his extreme views be the reason that Republican Chair Val DiGiorgio is keeping his candidate quiet?\u00a0Roe has\u00a0provided no position papers, no interviews, and has refused to debate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Susan Rzucidlo,\u00a0on the other hand,\u00a0has said\u00a0\u2018yes\u2019\u00a0to every debate request. She has posted multiple position papers on her website\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.susanforpa.com\/\"><span class=\"s2\">www.SusanForPA.com<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and gives out her personal\u00a0contact\u00a0information\u00a0so voters can\u00a0contact\u00a0her directly with questions.\u00a0She is transparent, accessible and knowledgeable on the issues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Susan has deep roots in Chester County, having lived here for more than 50 years. She raised her\u00a0four\u00a0children here, all graduates of\u00a0Kennett High School\u00a0&#8211; she truly supports the great schools\u00a0here\u00a0in Chester County.\u00a0Unlike Eric Roe, she built her home,\u00a0businesses\u00a0and life\u00a0here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">She has earned the respect of Democrats, Republicans and Independents\u00a0alike\u00a0because of the work that she has done to protect the most vulnerable in Pennsylvania. Her support of Police and First Responders and her dedication to cleaning up\u00a0government crosses party lines.\u00a0Susan will bring common sense solutions to Harrisburg.\u00a0Few know that Susan worked to eliminate a loophole that allowed certain providers in Pennsylvania to charge for 31 hours of care per day.\u00a0(There are only 24 hours in any given day.)\u00a0That loophole cost taxpayers $330 million a year,\u00a0and after legislators told Susan to leave that\u00a0loophole\u00a0alone,\u00a0she went to the Auditor General and advocated for the ending of that practice;\u00a0that was when she decided to run for office.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Clearly,\u00a0Susan has the experience, determination and independence to be the legislator that the people of the 158th deserve,\u00a0and to be honest, what they want.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Now\u00a0I don\u2019t know what polling Val DiGiorgio is seeing for the US 16<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Congressional District, but Democrat Christina Hartman has changed the dynamic of that race that now has gained national attention. Her qualifications far outshine those of her weak opponent. This race is a traditional\u00a0Republican\u00a0seat but is\u00a0now\u00a0considered a toss-up.\u00a0Christina has the local roots, the top notch education and the international experience we need in Congress. She has what it will take to represent all of the residents of the 16th district with honor, integrity and compassion. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Unlike Val, I encourage voters to look at\u00a0ALL\u00a0the candidates websites, and reach out to contact them with questions. Discover for yourself which candidates reflect\u00a0yours\u00a0and Chester County\u2019s values\u2026.\u00a0And vote accordingly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Finally, if Republicans Val DiGiorgio, Eric Roe, Lloyd Smucker, Pat Meehan and Ryan Costello can\u2019t stand up to the hate, bigotry and racism of Donald Trump, how can they stand up for the great people of Chester County?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Brian J.
