Celebrating its 38<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> anniversary this year, the event will be held October 15 and 16 at Hagley Museum and Library (Buck Road East entrance via Route 100, Wilmington, Delaware, 302-658-2400, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hagley.org\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.hagley.org<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The popular annual show, which is being held inside Hagley\u2019s Library Building and Soda House along with the grounds outside the building, is a juried craft fair with more than 50 top-flight artisans demonstrating, displaying and selling their crafts.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Hagley Craft Fair, which <\/span><span class=\"s4\">was created to celebrate the history of the textile industry along the Brandywine in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, will spotlight artists who specialize in wearable art, Shaker boxes, wood, pottery, jewelry, glass, soap, metal and other media.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Some of the participating vendors are Catherine Cheetham (multi-layered fused glass panels), Scott Gold (hewn bowls and utensils), Lore Evans (stained glass artist), Richard Darr (handmade soaps) and Susan Gladstone (wheel-thrown pottery).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The Craft Fair will run from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $5.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">On October 15, it will be time for \u201cOpening Night\u201d for the 2016-2017 season of the Kennett Symphony of Chester County (610-444-6363m, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kennettsymphony.org\/\"><span class=\"s5\">http:\/\/www.kennettsymphony.org<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The show, which will get underway at 7:30 p.m., is being held at Unionville High School on Route 82 in Kennett Square.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The KSCC concert will feature Michael Hall as Conductor and Micah McLaurin on piano.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The evening\u2019s program features Jean Sibelius\u2019 \u201cFinlandia,\u201d Sergei Rachmaninoff\u2019s \u201cRhapsody on a Theme of Paganini\u201d and Dmitri Shostakovich\u2019s \u201cSymphony No. 5.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Adult ticket prices are $53, $45 and $30 day of concert &#8212; $5 cheaper in advance &#8212; with student (age 18 and under) tickets priced at $10.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Longwood Fire Company will be hosting its annual Open House on October 16 from noon-3 p.m. The fire company and its crew of dedicated firefighters will be opening the bay doors to welcome the community to the station. The event will also showcase the company\u2019s fire apparatus, equipment, and talent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The popular annual event features a wide array of activities including LifeNet Air Medical Chopper (landing, 12:30 p.m.; take off; 2:30 p.m.), Vehicle Rescue Demonstration using the Jaws of Life at 1:30 p.m., flu shots, Child ID fingerprinting (Kennett Township Police Department), tours of the station, free food and beverages, face painting, raffles and special glow-in-the-dark junior fire hats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/paradocx-vineyard-Harvestfest.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2068 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/paradocx-vineyard-Harvestfest-300x214.jpg\" alt=\"paradocx-vineyard-harvestfest\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/paradocxvineyard\/\">Paradocx Vineyard<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> (1833 Flint Hill Road, Landenberg, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paradocx.com\/\"><span class=\"s5\"><i>www.paradocx.com<\/i><\/span><\/a>) will be hosting its annual \u201cHarvestfest at the Vineyard\u201d on October 15.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Activity will get underway when \u201cRace Through the Grapes\u201d is staged from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. \u00a0\u201cHarvestfest,\u201d which runs from 2-6 p.m., will feature live music, hay wagon rides, and activities for the kids.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Pumpkins have arrived and they\u2019ve come in all shapes, sizes and forms &#8211;big pumpkins, tiny pumpkins, pumpkin M&amp;Ms, carved pumpkins, pumpkin Oreos, illuminated pumpkins, huge pumpkins, pumpkin lattes, artificial pumpkins and even digital pumpkins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">This is also the time of the year when pumpkin celebrations are all around you. One of the premier pumpkin events in the state is the annual Pumpkin Days event at Tyler Arboretum. (515 Painter Rd., Media, 610-566-9134, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tylerarboretum.org\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.tylerarboretum.org<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Tyler Arboretum\u2019s Pumpkin Days event is a fun-filled family festival as well as being one of the nature-oriented site\u2019s major annual fundraising events. This year\u2019s event will be held October 15 and 16 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The wide array of activities includes hay wagon tours, scarecrow making, a bounce house, face painting, a pumpkin patch, an inflatable obstacle course, pumpkin racing, a stiltwalker, a \u201cBirds of Prey\u201d exhibit, arts and crafts, a haunted tree house, pumpkin painting and goats in the meadow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Tickets are $11 for adults, $9 for seniors and $7 for children (ages 3-15). Free\u00a0parking for Pumpkin Days is\u00a0exclusively\u00a0at the Penn State Brandywine campus, where visitors can catch the complimentary shuttle bus to and from Tyler Arboretum. Parking at the Arboretum is reserved for handicapped parking.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cPumpkinland\u201d (Linvilla Orchards, 137 West Knowlton Road, Media, 610-876-7116, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.linvilla.com\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.linvilla.com<\/span><\/a>), which is open through November 6, features fairy tale characters from nursery rhymes along with a huge scarecrow and a really tall storybook.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Other activities include train rides, a straw bale maze, hayrides, pick-your-own apples and pony rides. The popular event will start with the carving competition on October 20. Live entertainment, hayrides and hot food are featured all three days. Admission is $10 for adults (18 and older) and $5 for children (ages 7-17).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">This weekend, the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center (100 Station Avenue, Oaks, 484-754-EXPO, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phillyexpocenter.com\/\"><span class=\"s3\">http:\/\/www.phillyexpocenter.com<\/span><\/a>) will host two very different events &#8212; Garba-Dandia with Shri Atul Purohit on October 15 and Minefaire on October 15 and 16.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Garba-Dandi is a celebration of the culture of Gujurati, one of the populous states in northern Indian. The dance concert will feature Shri Atul Purohit, who is billed as \u201c a \u201cliving legend in Gujarati music.\u201d He will be performing with his Rutumbhara Group.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Garba is a form of dance which was originated in the state of Gujarat. The name is derived from the sanskrit term \u201cGarbha\u201d (\u201cwomb\u201d) and \u201cDeep\u201d (a small earthenware lamp). Many traditional garbas are performed around a centrally lit lamp or a picture or statue of the Goddess Shakti. Dandia is the traditional folk dance of Gujarat, that originated in Vrindavan by Lord Krishna. It is performed depicting scenes of Holi, and lila of Krishna and Radha.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/minefaire.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2071\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/minefaire-300x128.jpg\" alt=\"minefaire\" width=\"300\" height=\"128\" \/><\/a>Minefaire is a convention of fans of the block-o-licious world of Minecraft, a game about placing blocks and going on adventures. Participants explore randomly-generated worlds and build amazing things from the simplest of homes to the grandest of castles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Visitors to Minefaire will be able to play in Creative Mode with unlimited resources or mine deep in Survival Mode, crafting weapons and armor to fend off dangerous mobs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Minefaire will run from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $74 either day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">There is a big event for specialized memorabilia collectors this weekend &#8212; the Philly Non-Sports Card Show. The event will be held on October 15 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and 16 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Merchants Square Mall (1901 South 12th Street, Allentown, 717-238-1936, <a href=\"http:\/\/phillynon-sportscardshow.com\/\"><span class=\"s3\">http:\/\/phillynon-sportscardshow.com<\/span><\/a>). Tickets are $8 &#8212; $14 for a two-day pass.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">There are two basic categories of trading cards &#8212; sports cards and non-sports cards. Sports cards depict athletes at all levels. Non-sport cards offer so much more. There are card sets dealing with music, movies, politics, nature, pop culture and history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">For more than a century, non-sport trading cards have documented trends in pop culture \u2013 providing people with history lessons provided by small, rectangular pieces of cardboard. Some of the most recent issues are \u201cMinecraft,\u201d \u201cStar Wars: The Force Awakens,\u201d and \u201cMinions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Twice each year, collectors from across the country come together in eastern Pennsylvania for this very special event. Now in its 33rd year, the event is the oldest show of its kind in the country. This weekend\u2019s extravaganza, which will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Merchants Square Mall in Allentown, is the 63rd edition of the show.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Many of the hobby\u2019s top manufacturers will have exhibit booths at this weekend\u2019s show and will be distributing free promo cards. There will be a huge array of non-sport cards, sets, singles, wrappers, chase cards, promos, and related memorabilia.<a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/elmwood-park-zoo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2073 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/elmwood-park-zoo-300x156.jpg\" alt=\"elmwood-park-zoo\" width=\"300\" height=\"156\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cBoo at the Zoo (Elmwood Park Zoo, Harding Boulevard, Norristown, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmwoodparkzoo.org\/\"><span class=\"s5\"><i>www.elmwoodparkzoo.org<\/i><\/span><\/a>) will be held October 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30 from noon-3 p.m. each day. \u201cBoo at the Zoo\u201d features live entertainment, costume contests, costume parades, trick-or-treat stations with candy, prizes, crafts and educational pieces. Children are encouraged to bring their own treat bags for trick-or-treating. The zoo will not be providing any bags. The schedule for live entertainment features YoYo on October 15, Franklin Institute on October 16, Lolly &amp; YoYo on October 22 and 29, Mark Luckenbill on October 23, and Lenny Martelli on October 30.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">On October 18, the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University (1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, 215-299-1000, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ansp.org\/\"><span class=\"s5\"><i>www.ansp.org<\/i><\/span><\/a>) is holding a \u201cDino-Mite Weekend.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Visitors will be able to explore the world of the dinosaurs and have a blast every Saturday and Sunday in October at the Academy of Natural Sciences. Guests are encouraged to visit every weekend for a free special activity and a chance to come face-to-face with roaring, moving, life-size animatronic dinosaurs in \u201c<i>Dinosaurs Unearthed<\/i>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Other activities include the behind-the-scenes tour of Dinosaur Hall and the opportunity to meet live dinosaur cousins at the Reptile Cart, and join fellow Lego-lovers to build dino-inspired creations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Tours and activities are free with admission. An additional fee is required for \u201cDinosaurs Unearthed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Admission is $15.95 for adults (age 13 and older), $12.95 for seniors and students and $11.95 for children (ages 3-12).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Historians would have a real hard time finding a link between Medieval activity and Delaware County but there will be a link on October 15 and 16 at the that the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation (Ridley Creek State Park, Media, 610-566-1725, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.colonialplantation.org\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.colonialplantation.org<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">If there were anything going on in the Delaware Valley back during the Middle Ages (1066-1485 A.D.), it would be activity among the local Native American tribes such as the Lenni Lenape and the Unami.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">So, it may seem a little odd that the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation (Ridley Creek State Park, Media, 610-566-1725, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.colonialplantation.org\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.colonialplantation.org<\/span><\/a>) hosts an annual event called \u201cMedieval Days.\u201d\u00a0 If it\u2019s a fun day, it need not be historically correct.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">On Saturday and Sunday, the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation is inviting visitors to \u201ccome see what life was really like during the Middle Ages in Europe &#8212; to see how 500 years of European culture thrived and changed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The scenic historic site, which is located in the middle of Ridley Creek State Park, will be host to a variety of encampments that look back at different aspects of medieval life from the Vikings to the age of Columbus. Re-enactors as Romans, Saxons, Normans and Vikings will portray life from this era of western civilization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">According to the Plantation\u2019s website, visitors to the event will be able to witness the changes that technology made by the late Middle Ages by viewing Irish encampments and the 15<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\">-century War of the Roses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The \u201cMedieval Days\u201d event is scheduled to run on October 15 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. (with last entry at 4 p.m.) and on October 16 from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (with last admission at 3 p.m.). Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children (ages 4-12).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The 1696\u00a0Thomas Massey House\u00a0(Lawrence Road, Broomall, 610-353-3644, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thomasmasseyhouse.org\/\"><span class=\"s3\">http:\/\/www.thomasmasseyhouse.org<\/span><\/a>) will be celebrating autumn with its Harvest Day Festival on October 15. The free festival features demonstrations of a variety of colonial crafts by period re-enactors and other special activities from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Visitors will be able to learn how to make apple butter, churn butter and make candles. There will be a working walk-in fireplace as well as a working blacksmith shop. Live music will be provided by the Marple Community Band.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Stoudts Brewery (2800 North Reading Road, Adamstown, 717-484-4386, <a href=\"http:\/\/stoudts.com\/\"><span class=\"s3\">http:\/\/stoudts.com<\/span><\/a>) is hosting a \u201cCancer Benefit Brew Fest\u201d on October 15 with an afternoon session from noon-4 p.m. and an evening session from 6-10 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Tickets include four hours of unlimited sampling of craft beer, a gourmet buffet and live music performed by Old Soul Revival (matinee session) and Cullen and Company (evening session). Admission price for either session is $35 in advance or $40 at the door.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">October is Cancer awareness month and this event is being held with \u201cLiving Beyond Breast Cancer\u201d as its beneficiary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">There will be brews from a wide array of beer crafters including Stoudts, Evil Genius, Saucony Creek, Lancaster Brewing Company, \u00a0Free Will Brewing, Stable 12, Little Dog Brewing, Fat Heads Brewing, Sly Fox, Liquid Hero Brewing, and Troegs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">For those whose preference is wine rather than beer, there is another special event for you this weekend. On October 15 and 16, the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail (<a href=\"http:\/\/lehighvalleywinetrail.com\/\"><span class=\"s3\">http:\/\/lehighvalleywinetrail.com<\/span><\/a>) will introduce visitors to the region\u2019s official wine grape during Chambourcin Weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Chambourcin is the only wine grape that is grown by all nine wineries. In the greater Lehigh Valley, there are more than 40 acres of Chambourcin that ferments into approximately 150,000 bottles of wine annually.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Each winery will feature its own activities such as wine tastings, live entertainment, vineyard tours and food and wine pairings. One is aimed at sending chills down your spine while the other is designed to warm your spirits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The Delaware Shakespeare Festival will put audience members in a nicely-spooked state with two performances of \u201cShakespeare\/Poe: A Night of Readings from the Dark Side.\u201d\u00a0On Oct. 14 from 7:30-9 p.m., actors will read seasonally spooky selections from the plays of Shakespeare and the poems and short stories of Edgar Allan Poe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The weird sisters of Macbeth will meet again and the raven will certainly come knocking on the chamber door, but this year\u2019s \u201cShakespeare\/Poe\u201d event will also offer readings that have not appeared in previous installments of this popular autumn show.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">On October 21, there is an event that will warm both your spirit and your body. Historic Odessa Foundation\u2019s \u201cHearth Cooked Dinner\u201d will be presented from 5:30-10 p.m. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Corbit-Sharp House. Visitors are invited to enjoy an evening of fine food, drink and merrymaking as the staff from the Historic Odessa Foundation serves a hearth cooked dinner of mouth-watering dishes using the recipes, tools and techniques of the 18th century.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Guests will have the opportunity to savor the delicious British Punch and assorted appetizers by the fire before touring the Corbit-Sharp House by candlelight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The Historic Odessa Foundation offers tours to the public, families, groups and schools of its landmark Delaware properties &#8212; the Historic Houses of Odessa. Trips are either a one-and-one-half hour roundtrips to the Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove or two-and-one-half hour roundtrips to Hockessin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The W&amp;WRR also is running its \u201cHayride Express\u201d on October 14 and 28 and November 11 at 7 p.m. Visitors can experience a one-hour evening ride through the Red Clay Valley on an original railroad flatcar converted especially for hayrides.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The New Hope &amp; Ivyland Railroad (32 West Bridge St, New Hope, 215- 862-2332, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newhoperailroad.com\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.newhoperailroad.com<\/span><\/a>) offers a two-and-one-half hour, 35-mile roundtrip ride on its \u201cFall Foliage Trains\u201d from October 15-November 5.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Time is running out if you\u2019re interested in seeing \u201cNightscape: A Light and Sound Experience\u201d at Longwood Gardens (1001 Longwood Road, Kennett Square 610-388-1000, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.longwoodgardens.org\/nightscape\"><span class=\"s3\">www.longwoodgardens.org\/nightscape<\/span><\/a>). The event, which has been running since August, will close on October 29.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">When \u201cNightscape: A Light and Sound Experience\u201d made its debut last year, it provided visitors with the opportunity to enjoy visually-impressive sights at Longwood after the sun goes down. The installation brought the garden to life after dark with colorful lights and moving images choreographed to music.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">This year, \u201cNightscape\u201d will take place in various areas of the garden \u2014 Rose Arbor, Large Lake, Flower Garden Drive, Legacy Tree, Flower Garden Walk, Topiary Garden, East Conservatory and Silver Garden. That means the spirits of the night are beginning to prowl the area. They know that Halloween and All Saints\u2019 Day (also known as All Hallows Day) are coming soon and they\u2019re ready to raise some hell.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Halloween, the holiday that features trick-or-treating and other ghostly fun events, takes its name from All Hallows Evening (Hallow e\u2019en). All around the area, Halloween activities are already in full stride. The following is a look at many of these events.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The 26<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> annual edition of \u201cHaunted Hayride, Bates Motel and Haunted Corn Maze at Arasapha Farm\u201d (1835 N. Middletown Rd., Gradyville, 610-459-0647, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebatesmotel.com\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.thebatesmotel.com<\/span><\/a>) will be scaring visitors through October 31.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The haunted hayride through the woods features monsters, special effects and actors. The Bates Motel has haunted rooms with special effects and computerized lighting. A haunted trail is cut through a cornfield inhabited by monsters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Admission prices are: Haunted Hayride, $20; Bates Motel, $15; Haunted Corn Maze, $15; combination tickets, $40. There are reduced rates for children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cHurricane Hill Farm Maze\u201d (Baldwin\u2019s Farm, 704 East Reeceville Road, Coatesville, 610-384-6952, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hhfmaze.com\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.hhfmaze.com<\/span><\/a>) will be open Saturdays and Sundays until November 6.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">This event features miles of trails through a five-acre corn maze along with a corn slide, hayrides, a pumpkin patch and a farm animal display. Tickets are $13.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Corn mazes, hayrides, a pumpkin patch and scarecrows will be featured at Ramsey\u2019s Farm (500 Ramset Road, Wilmington, Delaware, 302-477-1499, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ramseysfarm.com\/\"><span class=\"s3\">http:\/\/www.ramseysfarm.com<\/span><\/a>) on weekends now through October 30.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The theme for the Corn Maze at Ramsey\u2019s Farm this year is a trip around the world with sections for North America, Europe, South America, Africa, Australia and Asia. Tickets are $7 for the corn maze, $4 for the sorghum maze, $3 for the hay maze, $2 for pumpkin painting and $3 for a hayride.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Another popular corn maze in the area is running now through November 5 at Cherry Crest Adventure Farm (150 Cherry Hill Road, Ronks, 717-687-6843, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cherrycrestfarm.com\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.cherrycrestfarm.com<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The main attraction is Cherry Crest\u2019s \u201cAmazing Maize Maze.\u201d Billed as \u201cthe world\u2019s most dynamic and interactive corn maze,\u201d it is a five-acre corn maze with over two-and-one-half miles of paths, scenic bridges, and clues. There will also be a \u201cFlashlight Maze\u201d every Friday and Saturday night. Tickets are $17 on Thursday and Fridays and $20 on Saturdays.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Pennhurst Asylum (100 Commonwealth Drive, Spring City, 484-866-8964, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pennhurstasylum.com\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.pennhurstasylum.com<\/span><\/a>), which is open through October 30, is on the site of a former mental asylum which has been shuttered for over a quarter of a century.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">It has been transformed into a haunted attraction with huge sets, detailed rooms and live actors. Visitors can also explore the labyrinth of underground tunnels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Tickets are $16 for \u201cPennhurst Asylum\u201d, \u201cDungeon of Lost Souls\u201d or \u201cTunnel Terror,\u201d $21 for \u201cGhost Hunt\u201d and $47 for a four-event combo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cTerror Behind the Walls\u201d (Eastern State Penitentiary, 2124 Fairmount Avenue, Philadelphia, 888-763-NITE, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.easternstate.org\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.easternstate.org<\/span><\/a>), which continues through November 5, takes place at a site Penitentiary that was once was an active prison and is now a National Historic Landmark.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">It is a scream-inducing event featuring laser and special-effect lighting, digital sound, sinister scents, animatronic creatures and 3-D illusions. Admission prices, which vary with the date, range from $19-$45.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Ghost Tour of Philadelphia (215-413-1997, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ghosttour.com\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.ghosttour.com<\/span><\/a>), Ghost Tour of Lancaster (717-687-6687, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ghosttour.com\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.ghosttour.com<\/span><\/a>) and Ghost Tour of Strasburg (717-687-6687, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ghosttour.com\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.ghosttour.com<\/span><\/a>) operate through November and offer an eerily entertaining evening of true ghost stories and real haunted houses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Tickets are $17 for adults for Philadelphia and $15 for Lancaster and Strasburg and $10 for children at all locations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cCandlelight Ghost Tours\u201d (Fort Mifflin, Fort Mifflin and Hog Island roads, Philadelphia, 215-685-4167, <a href=\"http:\/\/fortmifflin.us\/\"><span class=\"s3\">http:\/\/fortmifflin.us<\/span><\/a>) are scheduled for October 15, 21 and 28. Visitors can tour historic (and haunted) Fort Mifflin by candlelight from 7-10 p.m. each night and hear true stories of ghostly encounters. This event is billed as an \u201cauthentic experience.\u201d Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students (12 and under).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cParanormal Friday at Fort Mifflin,\u201d which runs from 7 p.m. until midnight on October 14, will introduce novice ghost hunters to the long history of hauntings at Fort Mifflin with a guided \u201cGhost Tour\u201d and a workshop highlighting the technology and equipment used in paranormal research.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Participants will be able to take part in small group investigation of five \u201chot spots\u201d with experienced paranormal researchers using all the latest technology. The event, which costs $45, takes place \u201crain or moonlight\u201d so visitors are advised to dress appropriately.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">October 15 and 22 are the dates for \u201cGhosts in the Graveyard\u201d (Old Swedes Historical Site, 606 Church Street, Wilmington, Delaware, 302-652-5629, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oldswedes.org\/\"><span class=\"s3\">www.oldswedes.org<\/span><\/a>). From 6:30-9 p.m. each night, visitors will be able to stroll through the complex, meet some of the ghosts who reside in the site\u2019s burial grounds and maybe even solve the mystery of the late night bell ringing at Old Swedes Church.
