Christie Lenee is a among an exciting slate of concert performers scheduled for this year's free concert series in Anson B. Nixon Park in Kennett.<\/p><\/div>\n

Wednesday nights will be swingin’ in the park all summer long<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

KENNETT SQUARE \u2013 \u201cSummertime and the livin\u2019 is easy\u201d goes the classic Gershwin song. What can be more idyllic than relaxing outdoors under a canopy of trees and stars and listening to a concert with family and friends?<\/p>\n

You can relax each Wednesday\u00a0 at Anson B. Nixon Park\u2019s\u00a0 free Wednesday night summer concert series. The concerts\u00a0 epitomize the easy-going times of summer, especially when shared with a picnic supper and a walk around the pond before the music begins.<\/p>\n

The 2011 summer concert series begins Wednesday June 15 and runs each Wednesday through August 3.\u00a0 Light suppers by local restaurants\u00a0 and ice cream treats from La Michoacana are available for purchase each week. \nJune 22<\/strong> \u2013 Chrisie Lenee (singer\/songwriter)
\nJune 29<\/strong> \u2013 Zydeco a Go Go presented by The Hadley Fund
\nJuly 6<\/strong> – Spookey Speakey (reggae)
\nJuly 13<\/strong> – Mason Porter (funky bluegrass)
\nJuly 20<\/strong> – Andrew Lipke & The Prospects (alternative)
\nJuly 27<\/strong> – Ben Arnold (singer songwriter)
\nAugust 3<\/strong> – Spring Standards (folk rock)<\/p>\n

A special benefit concert is planned for Wednesday, August 10,\u00a0 with featured artists Blue Cat Blues and The Winchester.\u00a0 Food and beverages will be available. Advance tickets are available for purchase.<\/p>\n

Tucked in the middle of the borough of Kennett Square, the Anson B. Nixon Park is a 106-acre haven that offers the community an 18 hole disc golf course, playground equipment, tennis and basketball courts, athletic fields, 2.5 miles of walking trails, picnic facilities, and a charming pavilion with a view of the stocked ponds.\u00a0 Some of the ancient Beech tree specimens date back over 250 years, and\u00a0 informational signs with botanical and historical information are placed along the woodland trail.
