{"id":30111,"date":"2018-11-01T09:11:35","date_gmt":"2018-11-01T13:11:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/?p=30111"},"modified":"2018-11-01T09:11:37","modified_gmt":"2018-11-01T13:11:37","slug":"ex-nba-star-to-speak-at-mendendall-about-battle-with-parkinsons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/?p=30111","title":{"rendered":"Ex-NBA star to speak at Mendendall about battle with Parkinson&#8217;s"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_8424\" style=\"width: 316px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/image002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8424\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8424\" src=\"http:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/image002.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"306\" height=\"254\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-8424\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brian Grant<\/p><\/div>\n<p>PENNSBURY \u2014 A night of inspiration and fun will be presented Nov. 17 by Shake It Off for Parkinson\u2019s.\u00a0\u00a0 The License to Cure Gala event will be held from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm at the Mendenhall Inn, Rt 52, Chadds Ford.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Grant, a former star NBA player who was featured in the May issue of Sports Illustrated about his battle with Young Onset Parkinson, will be the keynote speaker.\u00a0 He will talk about his battle with Parkinson\u2019s disease.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Shake It Off is in its sixth year of fighting Parkinson\u2019s disease and to celebrate, they will host the first ever, 0007, James Bond-style gala, License to Cure.\u00a0 This year\u2019s event will take place on Saturday, November 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Mendenhall Inn, Gold Ballroom.\u00a0 Guests will enjoy, photo op with a James Bond-like car, the Aston Martin, Casino Royal, drinks, dinner, silent auction items, dance and a special appearance by former NBA star Brian Grant.<\/p>\n<p>Shake It Off was co-Founded by local residents, Chris and Jodi Cianci in 2012 when Jodi was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson\u2019s disease.\u00a0 She decided to forgo the traditional Parkinson\u2019s medication route, which can have devastating side effects and instead focused on high intensity exercise to control her symptoms.\u00a0 After six months of exercising, Jodi noticed a difference in her symptoms.\u00a0 To date, Jodi has maintained an active exercise lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Shake It Off provides funding for Parkinson\u2019s research, with a focus on exercise related therapies.\u00a0 Local organizations, such as the University of Delaware Parkinson\u2019s exercise research have been a recipient of their fundraising efforts in the past. Shake It Off is a proud member of Team Fox at the Michael J.
