Taste of Phoenixville guests applaud reaching the goal of \u201c15 in 15\u201d – $15,000 raised in 15 minutes for Good Samaritan Services, which contributed to the total of $65,000 raised for shelter and housing services.<\/p><\/div>\n

This year\u2019s Taste of Phoenixville, one of Chester County\u2019s annual signature fundraisers, raised $65,000 for Good Samaritan Services, the non-profit that provides temporary emergency, transitional and affordable permanent housing, as well as essential community resources to men, women and children who are experiencing, or who are at risk of homelessness.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Held at Franklin Commons in Phoenixville, this year\u2019s \u201cTaste\u201d event featured cuisine from more than 20 local restaurants and caterers, as well as complimentary local beer, wine and spirits from local breweries and distilleries.\u00a0 More than 400 guests attended the event and, after sampling the many \u201ctastes\u201d, voted Bistro on Bridge, Majolica and Foresta\u2019s Market as the top three food establishments of the evening.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was our 17th<\/sup> Taste of Phoenixville event and once again, the community came together in support of those experiencing homelessness,\u201d said Nate Hoffer, CEO of Good Samaritan Services.\u00a0 \u201cWe thank all of our sponsors, the food and drink partners who donated their time, talent and delicious food and drink, and we also thank everyone who purchased tickets, bid on auction items and made additional donations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are truly grateful for the generosity of our sponsors, food and drink partners and guests.\u201d<\/p>\n

A high point of the event was \u201c15 in 15\u201d \u2013 an online donation challenge to raise $15,000 in 15 minutes, which was achieved well within the timeframe.<\/p>\n

Good Samaritan Services assists men, women and children in Chester and Lancaster Counties who are in need of shelter, transitional housing and stability.\u00a0 The organization owns nine properties that are used for emergency shelter and transitional housing, serving up to 70 people every day.\u00a0 The permanent housing services and Bridge of Hope @ Good Samaritan Services programs serve an additional 120 single mothers and children daily. \u00a0Combined, all Good Samaritan Services programs impact nearly 400 people in Chester and Lancaster Counties every year.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt costs us $23 per person per day to provide shelter, housing, case management services, food and supplies,\u201d said Hoffer.\u00a0 \u201cWith the proceeds from Taste of Phoenixville, we can serve nearly 100 people in all of our programs for an entire month.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
