Each day the webcast will present a different stage reflecting the diversity of Philadelphia&#8217;s music scene featuring artists such as Christian McBride,\u00a0Kevin Eubanks,\u00a0Eric Bazilian\u00a0(The Hooters),\u00a0Kurt Vile,\u00a0G. Love,\u00a0John Oates,\u00a0Man Man,\u00a0 Marc Brownstein\u00a0(Disco Biscuits),\u00a0Schoolly D,\u00a0Eric Slick\u00a0(Dr. Dog),\u00a0Ursula Rucker and Low Cut Connie. The lineup also includes Coatesville\u2019s veteran singer-songwriter-producer Brian Fitzy.<\/p>\n<p>Brian\u00a0Fitzy, a.k.a. Brian Fitzgerald, graduated from Coatesville Area Senior High and then attended West Chester University.\u00a0Fitzy\u00a0graduated from WCU in 2007 with a musical performance\/classical violin degree. When he was a student at West Chester, he had a band called Leaving Cash.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Fitzy is focusing on internet performances with his own \u201cQuarantour Fridays\u201d and this weekend\u2019s \u201cLove From Philly\u201d festival.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll be playing Friday evening,\u201d said Fitzy, during a phone interview Wednesday evening from his South Coatesville home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re having a soundcheck tomorrow morning and they\u2019ll probably announce the set times then. I expect to be performing sometime between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. I\u2019ll be playing at home but right now don\u2019t know how long my set will be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Playing live music over the internet on Friday evenings is nothing new for Fitzy. So, I cancelled the show and then played a live set online.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a March 12 post on his Facebook page, Fitzy wrote, \u201cHey everyone! In light of the number of performances that have been cancelled, I&#8217;m thinking about doing a live stream concert here on Saturday evening (EST\/UTC-5:00) if enough people are interested. I&#8217;ll do some of my songs, some covers, and maybe take a few requests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That was the start. Since then, Fitzy has brought his music to his fans every Friday \u2013 and the event has gotten better and better as the weeks have gone on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been doing my Friday night show for seven weeks and the audience is growing every week,\u201d said Fitzy. \u201cI ironed out the production and technical parts. Now, it\u2019s full HD with a dedicated audio feed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do a lot of video production for other people, so I have a lot of video gear in my studio. It is a three-hour show each week. I play requests I get at the moment. His latest album \u201cHard Times for Dreamers\u201d was produced by legendary Philly producer Joe Nicolo, who has worked with Kris Kross, Lauryn Hill, Fugees, Cypress Hill and Schoolly D.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe recorded most of the album at Joe Nicolo\u2019s home studio in Audubon,\u201d said\u00a0Fitzy. \u201cWe thought about using his full studio \u2013 Studio Four \u2013 but the vibe there is more polished. I didn\u2019t want things to be too worked-on and too methodical. Joe said \u2013 we need to put some dirt on it. We worked on it throughout most of 2016.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fitzy\u2019s post-college career began on a high note when he performed with the Foo Fighters at the Grammy Awards as a Top Three finalist in the \u201cMy Grammy Moment\u201d competition. Since then, he has established a career as a solo artist and a sideman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI grew up in a musical home,\u201d said\u00a0Fitzy. \u201cMy mom Gloria was a singer and a guitarist in a progressive rock band from the mid-70s until 1981.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMusic was continually playing in our house. My earliest memories tied to music include listening to George Benson, Al Jarreau, Genesis and Peter Gabriel. I started playing violin when I was nine in fourth grade at Caln Elementary School.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI began picking up other instruments later, including guitar, drums, keyboards and sax \u2013 and beat-box. I had several different bands during and after college, but financial restrictions drove me to become a solo act. I\u2019ve been able to do it by using a beatbox and doing live looping.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fitzy\u2019s recorded output stretches from \u201cRedefinition,\u201d which was released in 2011 to \u201cHard Times for Dreamers\u201d in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>In a previous interview, Fitzy said, \u201cThat record that I put out almost three years ago will be the last album for the foreseeable future. The music industry keeps changing. The idea of spending so much time recording and putting out an album isn\u2019t that great. New music goes out of the audience\u2019s attention too quickly. It\u2019s hard to keep longevity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m busy every day \u2013 keeping the balance between playing shows and doing things that bring in money. I\u2019m an artist with no big machine behind me. I am trying to get to a point where I can take a larger ensemble on the road instead of just me. I\u2019m doing solo shows out of necessity. It\u2019s too expensive to bring on players of the caliber I want to play with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fitzy\u2019s solo shows had been going over well.
