It was originally scheduled to be held at the Foundry at the Fillmore. Then, it was announced that it had been moved to the Theatre of the Living Arts (334 South Street, Philadelphia, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lnphilly.com\/\">http:\/\/www.lnphilly.com<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dusty Gannon is the founder and leader of Vision Video \u2013 and a paramedic and firefighter in the Athens, Georgia area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If someone he rescued were shown a picture of Gannon in his role as lead singer of his band Vision Video, his or her response might be \u2013 \u201cI have no idea who that person is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If fans of Vision Video were shown a picture of Gannon in his firefighter gear, their response might be \u2013 \u201cWe don\u2019t know who that dude is.\u201d <!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The confusion is understandable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gannon the singer has a look that features eye makeup, black lipstick and torn fishnet clothing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gannon the emergency worker has a look that features firefighting gear, boots and a helmet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gannon is not a schizophrenic. He is simply a Goth musician who likes working as a lifesaver and U.S. Army Afghanistan veteran who likes writing and performing dark music.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vision Video, which is performing on July 10 at Kung Fu Necktie (1248 North Front Street, Philadelphia, <a href=\"http:\/\/kungfunecktie.com\/\">kungfunecktie.com<\/a>), is an Athens-based post-punk Goth band that released its debut album, \u201cInked in Red,\u201d in 2021.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI was an Infantry officer in the Army,\u201d said Gannon, during a phone interview Tuesday afternoon as the band was driving to a gig in Boston.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe first album was based on my experience in the Army and in Afghanistan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That experience includes bouts with PTSD, periods of dealing with depression and the challenges of returning to civilian life \u2013 common factors in the lives of many war veterans. Being an emergency service worker also has helped.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019ve been a firefighter and paramedic in this area for the last five years,\u201d said Gannon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fortunately for Gannon, writing and performing music has provided an avenue to deal with all the stress \u2013 a means for catharsis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vision Video features bassist Dan Geller, drummer Jason\u00a0Fusco, keyboardist Emily Fredock along with Gannon on guitar and vocals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe started in 2018 and fully formed in 2019,\u201d said Gannon. \u201cOur music is a fusion of British rock from the late 70s and early 80s, post-punk and Athens bands like REM and the B-52s.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe influence of The Cure is most obvious. I admire their ability to change and still retain their identity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cA lot of bands coming out of Athens have influenced my guitar playing. We even took our name from a now-closed video store in Athens.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhen it started, I was working at the Georgia Theater, and Jason and I started talking about music. I was posting music online and Jason came over and put drums to it. Dan heard it, liked it and approached us. Then, we met Emily through mutual friends.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe recorded much of the first record in 2019. Then, the pandemic hit. Throughout the pandemic, I decided to spend more time with it. As a result, I added a few more songs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe recorded the 10-song album at SubVon Studio in Athens with producer Tom Ashton. We held back the album release until April 2021. We built a lot of social media content prior to the release.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The album got good reviews, but we waited a little while to tour.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe played some regional shows for a while. Then, we did an external tour in late 2021 and then another in March and April this year. We played Philly in April at the Silk City Diner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vision Video has already moved on to the process of making its sophomore album, \u201cHaunted Hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe started in earnest in October. I had the groundwork laid a year after the first album came out. The recording occurred in March 2022 \u2013 three weeks total at Tom\u2019s studio. It was a really enjoyable experience.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe wrote a lot of parts in the studio \u2013 wrote and edited on the fly. This one was unique because it was written collectively in a room together. This was written more systematically &#8212; 10 songs structured to everybody\u2019s strengths. It came together really quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHaunted Hours\u201d is an album filled with musical and emotional intensity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Gannon, \u201cWe&#8217;re insanely proud of this 10-track album recorded at SubVon Studios. It is a sort of memoir of my observations and emotions during the past several years, having experienced quite a lot of death, due to the pandemic and otherwise. It\u2019s about grief, loss and societal breakdown. It\u2019s about watching systemic lies kill and the callousness of humans due to mass ignorance. It\u2019s about mental health failing as the world falls apart, but still finding hope in the cracks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHaunted Hours\u2019 will not be released until October 11, but the band has treated fans to a powerful new single, \u201cBeautiful Day To Die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Video link for Vision Video &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/VlTvoyIAiuk\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/VlTvoyIAiuk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The show at Kung Fu Necktie on July 10, which has Activity and NITE as opening acts, will start at 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tickets are $15.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other upcoming shows at Kung Fu Necktie are Ovoxo on July 9, All Hell on July 11, PkewPkew Pkew on July 12 and Pink Navel on July 13.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16461\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16461\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16461\" src=\"https:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/the-wrecks-1-300x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-16461\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Wrecks<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Sunday night, the TLA (334 South Street, Philadelphia, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lnphilly.com\/\">http:\/\/www.lnphilly.com<\/a>) will host \u201cThe Wrecks &#8212; Better Than Ever Tour\u201d with girlhouse and\u00a0Moth\u00e9 as the opening acts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Wrecks are band featuring vocalist\/producer\u00a0Nick Anderson along with Aaron Kelley\u00a0(bass),\u00a0Nick \u201cSchmizz\u201d Schmidt\u00a0(guitar) and\u00a0Billy Nally\u00a0(drums).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But the Wrecks are only a band when they are on tour. All other times, the Wrecks are just Anderson.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On June 10, the Wrecks released their sophomore album, \u201cSonder,\u201d via\u00a0Big Noise Music Group.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI recorded \u2018Sonder\u2019 at my home in September and October 2021 and January and February 2022,\u201d said Anderson, during a phone interview last week on his way to a gig in Albany, New York.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI have a studio in my house and use ProTools. All the Wrecks\u2019 music is made there. I produced and engineered the album and played most of the instruments myself. Billy Nally did some of the drum work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s a very personal record. It\u2019s a breakup album. I realized how emotional songwriting can be when it\u2019s visceral.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The final product did not come without a lot of blood, sweat and tears.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Anderson, \u201cMaking this album was a very difficult, sleepless journey that took a lot out of me, but each day and night throughout that process, I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. I wrote this album because I had to. I was slowly and poorly processing a breakup, and for a while there, the breakup was winning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt was a lonely, emotional, angry, sleepy, and loud process. 5 a.m. would roll around and I\u2019d be sitting in my studio next to my snoring puppy trying to perfect the same guitar take that I began attempting two hours before then. But I knew I was onto something with this new music, and every fiber of my being wanted to see it through. I haven\u2019t felt this excited or optimistic about releasing a body of work in my entire career.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cSonder\u201d\u00a0follows the release of the Wrecks\u2019 2016 debut EP\u00a0\u201cWe\u00a0Are\u00a0The\u00a0Wrecks\u201d\u00a0(their first single \u201cFavorite Liar\u201d currently has\u00a036 million+\u00a0streams on Spotify),\u00a0their 2018\u00a0\u201cPanic Vertigo\u201d\u00a0EP, their 2020\u00a0\u201cStatic\u201d\u00a0EP\u00a0as well as their 2020 debut LP\u00a0\u201cInfinitely\u00a0Ordinary\u201d\u00a0(58 million+\u00a0streams on Spotify).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anderson grew up in Westville, New York and later migrated to California.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI moved to the West Coast right out of high school when I was 18,\u201d said Anderson. \u201cI went to school at San Diego Community College but dropped out to concentrate on music.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAround 2015, I finally got all the members. I showed them my songs and asked them if they wanted to be in a band. Tow of the guys \u2013 Schmizz and Billy \u2013 drove here from New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe put out our first single, \u2018Favorite Liar,\u2019 in early 2016 and then landed a support tour for Nothing But Thieves. The success of \u2018Favorite Liar\u2019 was a great start for us. Now, it\u2019s exciting to see our singles do so well. The single, \u2018Fvck Somebody,\u2019 from the \u2018Infinitely Ordinary\u2019 also got a lot of streams.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first single from \u201cSonder\u201d was \u201cLone Survivor\u201d and was released in February. The Wrecks followed with \u201cI Love This Part\u201d in March and \u201cWhere Are You Now\u201d in May.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Describing \u201cI Love This Part,\u201d Anderson said that the song means a lot to him because it kept his head above water and helped (him) cope during a very difficult time. Not only that, it inspired and set the tone for the rest of the upcoming album.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe single \u2018I Love This Part\u2019 is doping really, really well,\u201d said Anderson. \u201cI have a feeling that it will surpass all the previous numbers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOn this tour, \u2018Sonder\u2019 is our most recent record and the one we\u2019re pushing.
