Curtice, an enrolled citizen of the Potawatomi Nation, read from her children\u2019s book <i>Winter\u2019s Gifts: An Indigenous Celebration of Nature<\/i>, which highlights the beauty of winter through Indigenous wisdom.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The event sparked thoughtful discussions on themes of cultural identity, community, and respect for nature, offering students a unique opportunity to connect with an Indigenous perspective.<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cIt\u2019s really special to share during Native American Heritage Month, for students to see an Indigenous person and know that our cultures are still thriving and special to us,\u201d said Kaitlin Curtice. \u201cMy books are universal\u2014they\u2019re about our relationship to Mother Earth, and I always hope that kids leave inspired to take care of that relationship and to share it with others.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Curtice\u2019s visit is part of Downingtown Area School District\u2019s (DASD) ongoing efforts to expose students to diverse perspectives and foster inclusivity.
