In October, she was the headliner and performed with her band. This weekend, she is the opening act, and she is performing solo.<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThis tour, I\u2019m playing acoustic \u2013 just guitar and singing,\u201d said Shoemaker, during a phone interview Wednesday afternoon as she traveled through New Hampshire on her way to a gig in Portland, Maine.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cI\u2019m playing the songs the way I wrote them It\u2019s kind of fun to be able to change it up every night. I have a lot more flexibility.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cIt\u2019s been really fun doing solo shows because it allows me to play album tracks that I wouldn\u2019t play with a band.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Shoemaker\u2019s songs feature infectious pop melodies, interesting production work and honest, heartfelt lyrics. They fit with Shoemaker\u2019s statement &#8212; I like making my music sound the way it should make you feel.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>After growing up in Wyndmoor, Shoemaker headed west to Boulder, Colorado where she was an English major at the University of Colorado.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Making music was already a part of her life.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI was always obsessed with listening to music like in the car with my mom,\u201d said Shoemaker. \u201cI was 12 or 13 when I started writing songs.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Shoemaker first gained notice in 2017 with her SoundCloud mashup, \u201cNo Lie, Bitch Don\u2019t Kill My Cocoa Butter Kisses\u201d \u2013 an acoustic cover\/mashup of \u201cBitch Don\u2019t Kill My Vibe\u201d by Kendrick Lamar, \u201cCocoa Butter Kisses\u201d by Chance the Rapper and Drake\u2019s \u201cGirls Love Beyonce.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>She signed with 5Towns Records in 2017 and released her debut EP, \u201cEast Side\u201d in September 2018. Her next release was her debut album, \u201cEverything is Fine (I\u2019m Only on Fire) in March 2024.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThere was a long gap between releases because I was writing for the album,\u201d said Shoemaker. \u201cAnd there was the pandemic.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Shoemaker will release her sophomore album, \u201cSomeone Should Stop Her,\u201d early next year.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe album release date is February 21, 2025.,\u201d said Shoemaker. \u201cRight now, I\u2019m on tour supporting Joe P. I have a couple singles out. I started last spring.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe fourth single was \u2018Iced Coffee.\u2019 I think putting singles out is a really good thing \u2013 especially because my songs are more slow burn.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI recorded the new album in Nashville. My producer also played drums. A must see!\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>At Jamey\u2019s this weekend, Bonet\u00a0will perform with her musical partner \u2013 guitarist Chris Flynn.<\/div>\n<div>When we spoke Wednesday afternoon, Bonet was still trying to get her biological clock in synch with EST (Eastern Standard Time).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cMy husband and I just got back last night from holiday in Barcelona (Spain),\u201d said Bonet, during a phone interview Monday from her home in Upper Manhattan.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Bonet, who is a world traveler, spoke about how little English is spoken there \u2013 unlike the rest of the European continent.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cVery few Barcelona residents spoke English,\u201d said Bonet. \u201cIt\u2019s because of the Catalan influence there.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Catalonia is an\u00a0autonomous community of Spain, designated as a\u00a0nationality\u00a0by its\u00a0Statute of Autonomy. The capital and largest city,\u00a0Barcelona, is the second-most populous\u00a0municipality\u00a0in Spain and the fifth-most populous urban area in the\u00a0European Union.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Now, Bonet is back to life on the road in America with her musical partner Chris Flynn<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cChris and I are now offering Deni Bonet &amp; Chris Flynn as a duo \u2013 which is good,\u201d said Bonet.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0There is a saying &#8211;\u201cThe whole is greater than the sum of the parts.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>So, it is with Deni Bonet &amp; Chris Flynn.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>As individual artists, they have more than made their mark in music. As a duo, they have created something extra, engaging and extremely entertaining.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Bonet\u2019s voice and violin, and Flynn\u2019s guitar and voice, have echoed through the United Nations and the White House, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Mountain Stage, and have even performed their original music as soloists with several full symphony orchestras.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>They have shared stages with REM, Cyndi Lauper, Warren Zevon, Sarah McLachlan, and many others. Their audiences have ranged from festivalgoers to Presidents and the FBI.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>For the last five years, they have melded that skill, experience and musicality on stages across Europe and America, from festivals to house concerts, libraries to radio stations.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Their lively and humorous shows are full of self-penned songs and instrumentals, and the warm banter of two people completely at one on the stage. The new album, \u201cOff The Record,\u201d is due out in January 2024.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI\u2019ve been releasing stuff off the album for the last few months,\u201d said Bonet. \u201cI never released the album because these days it\u2019s all about releasing singles.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cFor now, I\u2019m just putting out singles and the album will be released next year. So far, I\u2019ve put out four singles from the album \u2013 \u2018Why Not You,\u2019 \u2018Off the Record,\u2019 \u2018Always Come Home\u2019 and \u2018I Am In Love,\u2019 which is a Crowded House cover.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The duo went international earlier this year and is ready for a reprise in 2025.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cWe went to Ireland in July &#8212; some amazing concerts in Wexford, Donegal, Cork and Northern Ireland.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cWe\u2019re going back to Ireland again in 2025. That will be in May. And we\u2019re playing in Montreal in February.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Bonet\u00a0takes the violin to places most musicians don\u2019t even dream about \u2013 and gladly takes listeners along for the ride.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Bonet\u00a0will be taking the audience at Jamey\u2019s along for the ride \u2013 a thrilling ride that spans musical genres and gets audience members out of their seats.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Bonet\u00a0can rock a violin like nobody\u2019s business and writes memorable songs that make you want to listen again and again.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>For years, Bonet\u00a0has been honing her craft as a violinist, singer, songwriter and performer. Her style\u00a0ranges from pop to roots rock to new folk.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>On her most recent album release\u00a0\u201cBright Shiny Objects,\u201d she delivers ultra-high voltage, genre-defying brilliance,\u00a0with pure classical training and precision playing.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cBright Shiny Objects\u201d was recorded in New York City with the cream of New York musicians, including Liberty DeVitto (Billy Joel&#8217;s drummer of 30 years), Graham Maby (Joe Jackson), Shawn Pelton (SNL, Rod Stewart), Will Lee (Letterman, Mick Jagger), Steve Holley (Paul McCartney), Ben Butler (Chris Botti) and Matt Beck (Matchbox 20).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This was Bonet\u2019s first all-instrumental album,\u00a0and it showed off her skills as a virtuoso violin player, composer and arranger.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>A new album is on the way.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe full album is available at our live shows,\u201d said Bonet.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cWe finished the album last year. I\u2019m really proud of this record. We played with a symphony orchestra \u2013 my music.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cAnd we had many great players \u2013 Will Lee, Andy York, Leland Sklar, Shawn Pelton and most of the Spin Doctors.\u00a0 They\u2019re buddies. Everybody helped me out.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI worked with this guy named James Frazee. We co-produced the album, and it was mixed by James and Chris.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe first track was started before the pandemic \u2013 and then the plague hit. I have a studio and I\u2019ve been recording remote for years.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Music has taken Bonet around the world to much acclaim and yet she still remains very grounded.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI\u2019ve had a very interesting career,\u201d said Bonet.\u00a0\u201cI grew up in northern Virginia \u2013 Woodbridge \u2013 and got a full ride to West Virginia University.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cRight out of school, I got on Mountain Stage. I was part of the original cast. A cool thing \u2013 I went back recently as a full guest.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Bonet\u00a0first came to widespread attention as a founding member of National Public Radio\u2019s premier music show,\u00a0Mountain Stage, where she built a following as a member of the broadcast\u2019s house band along with singing and playing in her own right and backing up artists as diverse as the Indigo Girls, Richard Thompson and Allen Toussaint.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In the 90s, Bonet\u00a0relocated to London, where she worked with alternative rock legend, Robyn Hitchcock, including a series of concerts as a duo that won praise from\u00a0USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post\u00a0and\u00a0The Boston Globe. She played on Hitchcock\u2019s album\u00a0\u201cMoss Elixir,\u201d\u00a0and even appeared in the Jonathan Demme concert film,\u00a0\u201cStorefront Hitchcock.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Eventually, Bonet\u00a0decided it was time to go solo\u00a0\u2013 well, almost solo. For several years, Bonet\u00a0has been performing as a duo with Chris Flynn.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI do play with a band occasionally,\u201d said Bonet. \u201cSince the plague hit, I go out mostly with Chris. It\u2019s a duo. He\u2019s not a side guy. We have a chemistry.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cWe hooked up a few years back. I was asked to play\u00a0the New York Irish Rock Review show at City Winery. I was in the house band and Chris was the musical director. The second year I did it, we hung out a little more and I asked him to do a gig with me. From then on, we started to work together. We\u2019ve played Carnegie Hall four times.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>After moving to New York, Bonet\u00a0released an initial EP (titled, simply,\u00a0\u201cEP\u201d) and then her full-length debut,\u00a0\u201cBigger Is Always Better.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The disc, which featured guest appearances from Hitchcock and The Soft Boys\u2019 Kimberly Rew (writer of Katrina and the Waves\u2019 classic hit\u00a0\u201cWalking On Sunshine\u201d), garnered rave reviews.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Bonet\u00a0has hosted her own cable TV show,\u00a0\u201cDuets With Deni,\u201d\u00a0a combination of music and chat featuring a series of all-star guests, which was the subject of a rave\u00a0Billboard\u00a0feature. She has performed highly regarded showcases at CMJ and SXSW and took her act on the road with Lilith Fair.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>And she\u2019s remained one of the most in-demand session players and sidewomen around, adding her violin to albums by an impressive variety of artists \u2014 from the introspective Sarah McLachlan to techno-metal band Gravity Kills \u2014 and making TV appearances on\u00a0The Today Show, SNL\u00a0and\u00a0Late Night With Conan O\u2019Brien.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>As she established herself as a solo act, Bonet\u00a0impressed artists like Patti Smith, Lisa Loeb, Gin Blossoms, Cracker, Midnight Oil, The Saw Doctors, Fairport Convention, Marshall Crenshaw and Kansas, all of whom have invited her to open their shows. She spent several years touring the globe as the violinist in Cyndi Lauper\u2019s band.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI spent a couple years touring with Cyndi and that was a lot of fun,\u201d said Bonet.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Bonet, a true globetrotter, also had a fun time in Zanzibar.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI went to Africa \u2013 to Tanzania \u2013 on safari,\u201d said Bonet. \u201cIt was on my bucket list. I was in Zanzibar for a week.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cOn the next-to-last day, I met some musicians at a traditional dinner. I jammed with these musicians, gave a workshop to teachers, and performed a mini concert.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThey asked me to come back and do a residency. I got a nice size grant and went back to Stone Town for a month. I spent three-and-a-half weeks teaching rock-and-roll, songwriting and violin.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>In January 2020, Bonet\u00a0returned to Zanzibar to record original music with local Tanzanian band Stone Town Rockerz (<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/uiE2lgajo6E\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/uiE2lgajo6E<\/a>).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Bonet\u00a0plays the violin like no other. Although classically trained, Bonet\u00a0quit the classical world because she hated having to wear black and sit still.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI approach it more like a guitar than a violin,\u201d said Bonet.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Bonet\u00a0is also known for her signature bright blue violin.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI was originally given the guitar from the company \u2014 Barcus-Berry \u2013 when I was touring with Cyndi,\u201d said Bonet. \u201cThey gave me violins in every color. Blue is the one that sounds the best.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Bonet\u2019s show at Jamey\u2019s will feature music from her entire catalogue.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI\u2019m playing quite a few songs from the new album,\u201d said Bonet. \u201cI have a lot of material \u2013 quite a few albums \u2013 to draw from. I also play a couple covers that are unusual like \u2018Frankenstein\u2019 by Edgar Winter.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cChris and I work so well as a duo. Our purpose as a duo is to make people feel great. The show will also be available on pay-per-view at a cost of $15.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The show at Jamey\u2019s on December 6 will feature\u00a0Katie\u00a0Henry.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Henry\u00a0is one of the bright new prospects in America\u2019s flourishing blues scene &#8212; a talented and versatile blues guitar player. Ironically, neither blues nor guitar were her starting points.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI grew up playing piano,\u201d said\u00a0Henry, during a phone interview. \u201cI also played clarinet in middle school.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Henry\u2019s musical journey began when she was six and started taking piano lessons. She quickly became the \u201chouse\u201d piano player for all night family singalongs and very soon began crafting her own songs in the back of her school notebooks. Heavily involved in school band, her passion for music continued to grow in college, where she also picked up the guitar.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI loved being in bands,\u201d said\u00a0Henry, who grew up and attended high school in Vernon, New Jersey. \u201cI also loved playing for family and other gatherings. It was the best way to bond with other people.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI went to Manhattan College in the Bronx. I graduated in 2014 with a degree in education. I was a teacher for three years in Riverdale in the Bronx.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI joined a jazz band in college playing piano and also went to open mics. It was just a way for me to continue playing.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cOne night, I was at an open mic at the Bitter End and met Antar. We had similar interests, so we started a blues band. I was playing piano at the time. He put a guitar in my hand, and I stared playing chords. He opened the door, and I stepped through. That was five years ago.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cMy first guitar was a Strat and then I got an SG. Now, the Atele Guitar is my favorite.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Henry\u2019s musical world had expanded.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cWhen I started playing guitar, I was listening with new ears,\u201d said\u00a0Henry. \u201cI had listened to the Allman Brothers Band. Now, I was tuning in to Dickie Betts. I like simple melody lines \u2013 like the playing of Robbie Robertson. I consider myself a melodic guitarist. His brothers and sisters in music have held fundraisers and launched a GF page (<a href=\"https:\/\/gofund.me\/7d28070e\">https:\/\/gofund.me\/7d28070e<\/a>) to help Tom\u2019s family in their time of dire need.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Philadelphia Blues Society is pitching in with a fundraising benefit at Jamey&#8217;s featuring five great bands including the Girke-Davis Project, the Mikey Junior Band, the Mark Margolies Band, Slim and the Perkolators and the Lonnie Shields Band headlining, a fender guitar auction and 50\/50 raffle.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This promises to be another great day of music and love for Tom, and we hope you will join us for brunch, blues and more!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The event will run from noon- 5 p.m. There is a<b>\u00a0\u201c<\/b>$10 Cash Only Minimum Donation at the Door.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Mary Fahl has a very distinctive voice.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>If you\u2019ve ever heard her\u00a0sing, you have her voice etched permanently into your memory bank.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>From that point on, if you hear a song by Fahl, you immediately know who is singing.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>If you want to hear holiday music with a difference, head to Upper Bucks County this weekend.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>When Fahl performs her annual Christmas shows, which she has been doing for more than a decade, those in the audience hear holiday music in a whole new way.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>On December 8, Fahl is returning to the Sellersville Theater (24 West Temple Avenue, Sellersville, 215-257-5808, <u><a id=\"OWA90bd590e-7fd2-b9c6-5aab-84f0a4750acf\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" title=\"http:\/\/www.st94.com\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.st94.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.st94.com<\/a><\/u>) with \u201cMary Fahl: Wintersongs.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cNothing much has changed in the last year,\u201d said Fahl, during a phone interview Monday afternoon from her home in Upper Bucks County. \u201cThere is nothing new coming down the pike.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThere is the Christmas show. It\u2019s a spectacular show.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cIt\u2019s my annual holiday show. I do a lot of Christmas shows every year.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Christmas show focuses mainly of her holiday album \u201cWinter Songs and Carols,\u201d which was released in 2019.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe Christmas record \u2013 I didn\u2019t want to do it,\u201d said Fahl. \u201cMy husband made me do it. Now, it\u2019s become my favorite album.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI made a Christmas record for people who don\u2019t like Christmas with songs like Joni Mitchell\u2019s \u2018Urge for Going\u2019 and a song by Sandy Denny.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Some of the album\u2019s other songs are \u2018In the Bleak Mountains,\u201d \u201cAve Maria,\u201d \u201cWexford Carol,\u201d \u201cWhat Child Is This,\u201d \u201cWalking in the Air\u201d and \u201cOh Holy Night\/Silent Night.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cOn my current tour, the first half is holiday music,\u201d said Fahl. \u201cThe second half is mainly songs from \u2018Can\u2019t Get It Out of My Head.\u2019 I also do songs from my previous albums, and I still throw in one or two October Project songs.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Fahl has honored her favorites by making an album of special tunes &#8212; a collection of songs that she calls \u201cessential\u201d to her development as an artist.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The album, which is titled, \u201cCan\u2019t Get It Out of My Head,\u201d was released on July 22, 2022, on her own label, Rimar Records.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI made it in Syracuse with my band and my producer Mark Doyle,\u201d said Fahl, during a phone interview Tuesday afternoon while returning from a gig in Maine.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cWe finished it in early 2022. We mixed and mastered it in March 2022 and then released it in July 2022.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>These are the album\u2019s 10 tracks and the artists who made the original versions &#8212; \u201cCan&#8217;t Get It Out Of My Head,\u201d ELO; \u201cRuby Tuesday,\u201d Rolling Stones; \u201cTuesday Afternoon,\u201d Moody Blues; \u201cRiver Man,\u201d Nick Drake; \u201cGot A Feeling,\u201d Mamas and Papas; \u201cDon&#8217;t Let It Bring You Down,\u201d Neil Young; \u201cComfortably Numb,\u201d Pink Floyd; \u201cSince You&#8217;ve Asked,\u201d Judy Collins; \u201cBeware Of Darkness,\u201d George Harrison; and \u201cThe Great Valerio,\u201d Richard and Linda Thompson.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThese were such essential songs for me\u2026 like old friends\u2026 my musical home in many ways,\u201d said Fahl.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI fell in love with each of them at the quintessential coming-of-age moment when music goes straight into your heart with no filter and these songs became part of my musical DNA\u2026 I learned to play guitar with several of them \u2013 especially the early Neil Young songs.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cMost of these covers come from the first albums I ever bought using one of those Columbia House \u2018get 12 free albums for a $1\u2019 mail order programs. I played these records endlessly\u2026 and the lyrics on many of these songs still have a powerful resonance for me.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Fahl\u00a0knew exactly where she was going.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI wanted to make a record that was special to me,\u201d said Fahl. \u201cI wanted to live in a place with all the music I grew up with. I learned guitar with Neil Young albums. I learned songwriting with Richard and Linda Thompson songs. Each song on this record has a very special meaning to me.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI lost my mother and my older sister in the same year \u2013 lost a link to the past. I chose these songs because I still sing them and love them. They are part of my musical family. They got me out of a funk.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The songs provide a comfort level for Fahl\u00a0and her fans.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe best compliment that I\u2019ve been getting is that it brought people a lot of joy,\u201d said Fahl.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cPeople really like my cover of \u2018Tuesday Afternoon.\u2019 That song gets the best audience response of anything I\u2019ve done.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cI still like singing these songs &#8212; and the band loves playing them. It\u2019s more rock and roll. It gives the boys in the band an opportunity to rock.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Fahl\u2019s band features Mark Doyle and his Syracuse musician friends \u2013 drummer Josh Dukaney, bassist Edgar Pagan and new keyboardist Andrew Carroll.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In 2011, Fahl\u00a0recorded her own version of one of rock\u2019s all-time classics \u2014 Pink Floyd\u2019s \u201cDark Side of the Moon.\u201d Fahl\u00a0re-interpreted the songs on an album she titled \u201cFrom the Dark Side of the Moon.<\/div>\n<div>F<\/div>\n<div>ahl, who was a member of the October Project 20 years ago, went solo in 2001. Prior to this year, her recorded output as a solo artist has been slim \u2014\u00a0\u201cLenses of Contact\u201d EP in 2001, \u201cThe Other Side of Time\u201d album in 2003, \u201cClassics for a New Century\u201d in\u00a02003 and \u201cFrom the Dark Side of the Moon\u201d in 2011.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Fahl\u2019s solo releases include \u201cLove and Gravity,\u201d \u201cFour Songs,\u201d \u201cWinter Songs and Carols,\u201d and \u201cMary Fahl: Live from Mauch Chunk Opera House,\u201d which is a project that included a live album, a performance DVD and a PBS special.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Many of Fahl\u2019s fans have been with her ever since her time with October Project which lasted from 1993-1996.<\/div>\n<div>For many artists, the task of re-inventing songs from an album as iconic as \u201cDark Side of the Moon\u201d could have been too much of a challenge. Not so for Fahl\u00a0who crafted a disc that honored its roots but established an identity all its own.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cAfter making the Sony classical album (\u201cClassics for a New Century\u201d), I wanted to do something that was fun,\u201d said Fahl. \u201cAn independent filmmaker I knew wanted to use me in a performance piece. I wanted to do something that I didn\u2019t have the ability to write.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThat\u2019s when I decided to do the \u2018Dark Side\u2019 recording. It\u2019s like a classical piece of music. I did not intend to make a cover record. It\u2019s my version and it doesn\u2019t sound at all like Pink Floyd\u2019s version. But a lot of die-hard Pink Floyd fans have responded well. They like the album \u2014 and my live versions of the songs.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Fahl\u00a0has written and performed songs for several major motion pictures, including the lead song (\u201cGoing Home\u201d) for the Civil War epic \u201cGods and Generals.\u201d Her music can also be found on the original soundtrack of the 2003 movie \u201cThe Guys.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Fahl\u00a0is a singer, a guitarist and a songwriter. More than anything,\u00a0she\u00a0is a performer.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cPerforming is my primary form of self-expression,\u201d said Fahl. \u201cWhen I do a show, I want to take you on a complete journey.
