Clariza Hernandez, PVA graduate<\/p><\/div>\n

Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA), in partnership with Philadelphia Virtual Academy (PVA), is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Clariza Hernandez. She will be the second student in PVA\u2019s history to graduate high school while simultaneously earning her associate\u2019s degree from Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC). Clariza\u2019s dedication exemplifies the opportunities made possible through BVA\u2019s dual enrollment partnership with HACC.<\/p><\/div>\n

Since 2017, BVA has partnered with HACC to offer students the ability to earn college credits toward an associate\u2019s degree while still enrolled in high school. Through this partnership, HACC provides courses, books, resources, supplies, and instructors to ensure that students receive a quality college education while completing their high school requirements. Clariza\u2019s success is a testament to the effectiveness of this collaboration and the benefits it brings to ambitious students.<\/div>\n

Clariza, who has been studying communications at HACC, will receive her associate\u2019s degree upon high school graduation. Reflecting on her experience, she credits her HACC courses for providing her with an early college experience and a solid foundation for her future academic and professional endeavors. \u201cMy HACC courses have given me the opportunity to familiarize myself with college courses and have allowed me to get a head start,\u201d said Clariza.<\/div>\n

Despite the many advantages of dual enrollment, Clariza acknowledges the challenges she faced, particularly in ensuring that her courses aligned correctly to fulfill both her high school and college credit requirements. Nevertheless, she persevered, taking on a full college course load since the second semester of her junior year and participating in accelerated winter and summer terms through PVA.<\/div>\n
Among her favorite courses, Clariza highlights intercultural communication, which provided her with a unique virtual learning experience. Looking ahead, she plans to attend a four-year university to complete her bachelor\u2019s degree.<\/div>\n

Clariza offers valuable advice to students considering the dual enrollment program: \u201cTake advantage of everything offered to you. The dual enrollment program has allowed me to earn my degree at the age of 18 with no financial burden.\u201d<\/div>\n
She also expresses deep gratitude for the support she has received throughout her journey. \u201cI am beyond grateful for the staff at PVA, especially Ms. Ricci. I wouldn\u2019t be here without them.\u201d<\/div>\n

Clariza\u2019s journey to success began in her junior year when she set a clear goal of earning her associate\u2019s degree before graduating high school. With unwavering dedication, she worked closely with PVA and BVA staff to stay on track, demonstrating exceptional perseverance and time management skills. Her achievements highlight the invaluable opportunities provided through BVA\u2019s dual enrollment partnership with HACC.<\/div>\n
