{"id":44245,"date":"2025-04-19T09:27:24","date_gmt":"2025-04-19T13:27:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/?p=44245"},"modified":"2025-04-19T09:27:25","modified_gmt":"2025-04-19T13:27:25","slug":"what-to-do-big-list-of-holiday-events-this-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/?p=44245","title":{"rendered":"What To Do: Big list of holiday events this weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"elementToProof\"><strong>By Denny Dyroff<\/strong>, <em>Entertainment Editor, The Times<\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-20497\" src=\"https:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/linvilla-hayrides.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"171\" \/>This is the big holiday weekend for Spring 2025.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Passover concludes on April 19 \u2013 sandwiched between Good Friday on April 18 and Easter Sunday on April 20.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The list of holiday events is long and varied \u2013 and the Easter Bunny is a very busy little mammal.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Linvilla Orchards (137 West Knowlton Road, Media, 610-876-7116, <a id=\"OWAbc25c94e-228a-9322-45f8-a54603965b4f\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.linvilla.com\/\">www.linvilla.com<\/a>) will be presenting \u201cHayrides to Bunnyland\u201d on 18 and 19.<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There\u2019s no place quite like Bunnyland at Linvilla Orchards.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Visitors can hop aboard a hayride as it carries them through the woods to visit the Easter Bunny\u2019s house where they will have the chance to meet Linvilla\u2019s Easter Bunny.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">One of Linvilla\u2019s Bunny friends will tell a magical story, and guests will receive a special treat.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">As an added attraction, the Easter Bunny likes to take pictures with all special guests.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">This hayride lasts approximately 20-30 minutes.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Tickets are $13 for ages 5 and up and $10 for ages 1-4.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\n<div id=\"attachment_20498\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20498\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-20498\" src=\"https:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/highland-hayrides-1-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-20498\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Highland Orchards<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Highland Orchards (1000 Marshallton-Thorndale Road, West Chester, <a id=\"OWAe412e4ec-b766-cd1e-3883-890e98e659fb\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.highlandorchards.net\/\">www.highlandorchards.net<\/a>) is presenting \u201cHayrides to Easter Bunny\u201d now through April 20.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Participants can enjoy a leisurely hayride to visit the Easter Bunny, hear a story about spring and receive an egg with a coupon for a treat to be redeemed back in the Market.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The event takes about 30 minutes with wagons leaving about every half hour. Event hours are from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. each day.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The bunny doesn\u2019t come out in the rain! Hayrides run weather permitting. No refunds, but you can visit a different day.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Reservations are encouraged but not required.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Tickets can be purchased in the Farm Market on the day or in advance. The cost is $8 per person.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-20499\" src=\"https:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/elmwood-zoo23-1-350x197.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"197\" \/>Elmwood Park Zoo (1661 Harding Boulevard, Norristown, <a id=\"OWA554a225d-adc3-6f0f-9e9e-d33dc3027f62\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.elmwoodparkzoo.org\/\">www.elmwoodparkzoo.org<\/a>) will have an \u201cEaster Brunch\u201d on April 19 and 20.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Visitors are invited to hop on over to the Zoo\u2019s special Easter brunches with appearances by the Easter Bunny.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">They can enjoy a delicious breakfast, participate in our Easter activities, and meet one of our beloved education animals.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">They can also grab a photo with the Easter Bunny and then spend more time exploring the Zoo.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There are multiple brunch sessions: 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Tickets are $125 for a table of two.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Sesame Place (100 Sesame Road, Langhorne, <a id=\"OWA5ee871a4-5bd0-c443-961d-10dcd5358eee\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sesameplace.com\/\">www.sesameplace.com<\/a>) may be closed for park rides and activities but there\u2019s still furry fun to have.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The amusement park in Bucks County will celebrate Elmo&#8217;s Eggstravaganza now through April 21.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Guests can visit Sesame Place Philadelphia for a hoppin\u2019 good time with exciting rides, entertaining shows, the Sesame Street Party Parade and special Easter fun with everyone\u2019s favorite furry friends.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Visitors can enjoy soaring, spinning, whirling and twirling on Sesame Street-themed rides, get photos with your favorite friends in their Eggstravaganza attire, meet and take photos with the Easter Bunny, go on a scavenger hunt for Easter Eggs around the park, and so much more.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">They also will be able to dance and sing along to the Sesame Street Party Parade, the Furry Friends Bunny Hop Dance Party and The Magic of Art.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Park admission and parking fees are not required for entry.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Peddler\u2019s Village (Routes 202 and 263, Lahaska, 215-794-4000, <a id=\"OWA43e38eed-b1f6-6c70-bf52-5cf851fb60e2\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.peddlersvillage.com\/\">www.peddlersvillage.com<\/a>) will present the \u201cSixth Annual\u00a0\u201cPEEPS\u00ae\u00a0in the Village\u201d\u00a0now through April 27 (except on Easter Sunday).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The popular event showcases the creative talents of regional residents\u2013and the longstanding allure of the colorful candies. There will be more than 130 marshmallow masterpieces carefully crafted with bright bunnies and chicks in inspired, inventive settings.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The event will start at 10 a.m. each day except on Sundays when it opens at 11 a.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Weekday and weekday evening visits are strongly encouraged. Lines and wait times can be long on weekends.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Harvest Ridge Winery (1140 Newark Road, Toughkenamon, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harvestridgewinery.com\/\">www.harvestridgewinery.com<\/a>) will present \u201cLive Music with Liz Watkins\u201d on April 18 at 4:30 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">On April 19, the winery will host \u201cLive Music with Jac Conner\u201d on April 19 at 4:30 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The winery will be closed on Easter Day.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Historic Odessa (Main Street, Odessa, Delaware, 302-378-4119, <b><a id=\"OWA365f1f4e-3ab6-b0dc-d5b9-8be3c63ba3cb\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.historicodessa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.historicodessa.org<\/a><\/b>) is both a scenic and an historic site in Delaware.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">This weekend, Historic Odessa will host a \u201cCommunity Service Event\u201d called \u201cTwo Lights For Tomorrow.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The event will be held on April 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. each night.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Visitors are invited to join the Historic Odessa Foundation in celebrating a DE250 event commemorating the start of America\u2019s semiquincentennial (1776-2026).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">It will commemorate Paul Revere\u2019s midnight ride by placing two lights in the Visitor Center windows on April 18 symbolizing Odessa\u2019s commitment to the community and a brighter future for all.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Odessa will also host an art exhibit by Deborah Johnson \u2013 \u201cBecoming One: Spirit, Nature, &amp; Form The Art of Deborah Johnson\u201d \u2013 from April 29\u2013June 29.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The exhibit of fine art created by the multi-talented Magnolia, Delaware artist, which will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. each day,<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">features a selection of her glass works, tapestries, paintings, Shibori dyed silks, and embroideries.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Known in the 18th-century as Cantwell\u2019s Bridge, Odessa played a vital role in commercial life along the Delaware River as a busy grain shipping port.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Today, visitors can stroll along tree-lined streets and admire examples of 18th- and 19th-century architecture in one of the best-preserved towns in Delaware. They can also tour a remarkable collection of antiques and Americana preserved in period room settings and quaint exhibits.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Historic Odessa is open to the public from March through December, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1-4 p.m.\u00a0 The site is also open on Mondays by reservation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Easter Bunny is known for hopping around. He also has a penchant for hopping on trains.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">This weekend, the holiday bunny will be riding trains all around the area.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">One of the best train rides with the Easter Bunny is the one presented by the West Chester Railroad (Market Street Station, West Chester, <a id=\"OWA70d15cf8-953d-72ef-7318-9a330edb8e01\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wcrailroad.com\/\">www.wcrailroad.com<\/a>).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The special \u201cEaster Bunny Express\u201d trains will run on April 19 at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. each day.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The 90-minute journey on the trail line\u2019s heated decorated train travels through Chester Creek Valley. The Easter Bunny will be greeting everyone at Market Street Station and then going along for the ride to Glen Mills.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">During our brief stop at the historic Glen Mills station there will be plenty of opportunities for you to take a brief photo with the Easter Bunny and explore the historic station. Greg Wright and Friends will be playing live music, singing all of your favorite Easter songs<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Adult fare for the West Chester Railroad trips is $30. Tickets for children (ages 2-12) are $25 while toddlers (ages 9-23 months) get to ride for $10.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The New Hope and Ivyland Railroad (32 West Bridge Street, New Hope, 215-862-2332, <a id=\"OWAa5a761e9-e33c-767e-a459-5159e7e73847\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newhoperailroad.com\/\">www.newhoperailroad.com<\/a>) is running its annual Easter Bunny Express on Saturdays and Sundays through April 20.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Easter Bunny is going to ride onboard the train where he will visit with each child, hand out special treats and pose for pictures. Coach tickets start at $58 for adults, $56 for children (ages 12-plus) and $11 for toddlers (under 2).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The train ride departs from and returns to the New Hope Train Station. Riders can take in the sights of early spring as the Easter Bunny visits with all of the children handing out special candy treats and posing for photos taken by the railroad staff.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Strasburg Rail Road (Route 741, Strasburg, 717-687-7522, <a id=\"OWA1a960e38-1da7-8e4e-18b8-ce4e89e918d1\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.strasburgrailroad.com\/\">www.strasburgrailroad.com<\/a>) is running its \u201cEaster Bunny Train\u201d on April 19 and 20 at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Strasburg Rail Road Easter Bunny Train is a memorable way to celebrate the holiday with family and friends. This train is extra special because the conductor is none other than Peter Cottontail.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Easter Bunny will hop from car to car spreading Easter happiness to the little ones on board.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">New for the 2025 Easter event is the \u201cCandy Drops\u201d activity hosted by the Easter Bunny and his friends. It will take place on the hour from noon until 5 p.m. at a designated location along the pedestrian mall area.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Children aboard the train will receive a colored wristband that will grant them access to a specifically timed Candy Drop, which will begin 15 minutes after the train returns to the station.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Tickets are $35 for adults and $25 for children.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Strasburg Rail Road is also running a special train on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in April \u2013 the \u201cWine &amp; Cheese Train.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Passengers can enjoy the luxurious, climate-controlled first-class accommodations and a tasting of select wine, cheese, and crackers as they travel in style down the tracks from Strasburg to Paradise and back. The train departs at 6 p.m. and the total trip time is 45 minutes.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cWine &amp; Cheese Train\u201d boarding is 30 minutes before the scheduled departure. Riders must be 21 or older and have their photo ID ready when they board.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Featured wines are carefully selected from Waltz Vineyards, and cheeses are paired accordingly. Beer and select non-alcoholic beverages are also available for purchase upon request. Riders can purchase a souvenir wine glass on board the train if desired. Glasses are $7 each.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">In accordance with Pennsylvania law, alcohol is only served during the train ride. We are not permitted to serve alcoholic beverages while the train is berthed in the station.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">This popular train is available on select Friday and Saturday evenings throughout the season. Tickets are $79.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Northern Central Railway (2 West Main Street, New Freedom, <a id=\"OWAab63c540-dfd6-494b-43f5-117936dfd057\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" title=\"Protected by Outlook: http:\/\/www.northerncentralrailway.com\/. Click or tap to follow the link.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.northerncentralrailway.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.northerncentralrailway.com<\/a>)\u00a0is running its \u201cEggspecially Fun Bunny Run!\u201d on April 19 and 20.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The special excursion will take passengers to Glen Rock and back \u2013 allowing them to take in views of the scenic Heritage\u00a0Rail\u00a0Trail\u00a0County Park.\u00a0The Easter Bunny\u2019s Helper will be on the train for photo ops.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">After returning to New Freedom, children can participate in an egg hunt (weather permitting). Each child will receive a free treat bag, including a bunny pretzel donated by Smittie\u2019s Soft Pretzels.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Departure times are 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The coaches are pushed and pulled by the rail\u00a0line\u2019s vintage PRR GP9 Diesel Locomotive, which was built in 1959.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">This is a one-hour excursion. Tickets will be printed and available for pick up at the ticket booth on the day of the excursion.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Tickets are $28.99 for adults and $19.99 for children.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Colebrookdale Railroad (South Washington Street, Boyertown, <a id=\"OWAf0f635fa-7204-9eb7-4988-e3439470c075\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.colebrookdalerailroad.com\/\">www.colebrookdalerailroad.com<\/a>) is running its \u201cEaster Eggs-press\u201d on April 19.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">A good way for families to make Easter memories that will last a lifetime is to join Peter Cottontail aboard this special ride on the Colebrookdale Railroad.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Kids can visit with the Easter Bunny outside and join other children as they search for Easter eggs. Children will enjoy a complimentary Easter themed coloring book and 10 prefilled Easter eggs.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Tickets are $35.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Middletown &amp; Hummelstown Railroad (136 Brown Street, Middletown, 717-944-4435, <a id=\"OWAdf129cf2-eb28-96fc-d588-cdc42f6f261f\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mhrailroad.com\/\">www.mhrailroad.com<\/a>) will be running its \u201cEaster Bunny Express\u201d trains on April 18 and 19.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The trains will depart at noon each day.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Easter Bunny has a special surprise for all kids aged 11 and under \u2013 and will also be posing with children for keepsake photos of the event.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The ride is a 1.5-hour round trip.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Ticket prices are Adults (Ages 12+), $23; Children (Ages 2-11), $18; and Infant (Under 2 years, lap-held), $6.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Allentown and Auburn Railroad (35 Railroad Street, Kutztown, 570-778-7531, <a id=\"OWA24225e47-4c9b-40b1-9121-7402f4f32c56\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"https:\/\/allentown-and-auburn-railroad.square.site\/\">https:\/\/allentown-and-auburn-railroad.square.site\/<\/a>) is running Easter Bunny Trains on April 18 and 19.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Easter Bunny will be riding on all the trains which depart Kutztown Station at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Easter Bunny will be hopping down the train as it travels through the Berks County countryside \u2013 and he will be handing out treats to the kids.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for seniors and $12 for children.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There is also another holiday that is celebrated on April 20 (4.20) each year.
