{"id":44460,"date":"2025-06-26T09:39:34","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T13:39:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/?p=44460"},"modified":"2025-06-26T09:39:35","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T13:39:35","slug":"on-stage-with-weather-warm-really-warm-the-music-heads-outside","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/?p=44460","title":{"rendered":"On Stage: With weather warm (really warm), the music heads outside"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"elementToProof\"><strong>By Denny Dyroff<\/strong>, <em>Entertainment Editor, The Times<\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-20659\" src=\"https:\/\/kennetttimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/d289f609-a33e-4161-93b2-ec4789205c1b.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/>Time seems to drag by ever so slowly during the brutal winter months \u2013 one cold, grey day followed by another one cold, grey day.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Then, when summer arrives, it speeds along like Shinkansen (the \u201cJapanese Bullet Train\u201d that can travel at speeds greater than 200 mph).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Amazingly, this is already the penultimate weekend before Fourth of July weekend.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Amazingly but not surprisingly.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The intense heat this week has made sure everyone knows what season we\u2019re in.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">With summer and warm weather comes outdoor concerts \u2013 and that\u2019s a good thing.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Fortunately for area music fans, the summer schedule of live outdoor shows features a long and varied list of great music shows.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The most ambitious series \u2013 the one filled with name acts \u2013 is the 2025 Concerts Under the Stars series in King of Prussia, which is now in its 39th season.<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Presented and produced by Rising Sun Presents!, the team behind the Philly suburbs\u2019 premier music venues Ardmore Music Hall\u00a0and 118 North\u00a0in Wayne, the summer-long series will again take place at the scenic Upper\u00a0Merion\u00a0Township Building Park (175 West Valley Forge Road, King of \u00a0Prussia, <a id=\"OWA7b2f6301-8e2d-a75c-ca76-9cf6eeee3172\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" title=\"http:\/\/www.concertsunderthestarskop.com\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.concertsunderthestarskop.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.concertsunderthestarskop.com<\/a>) and will include a mix of ticketed and free concerts.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The show this weekend will feature Strand of Oaks on June 28 with Stella Ruze as the opening act.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Strand of Oaks is a rock project by songwriter and producer\u00a0Timothy Showalter.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Indiana native has released eight studio albums\u2014Leave Ruin\u00a0(2009),\u00a0Pope Killdragon\u00a0(2010),\u00a0Dark Shores\u00a0(2012),\u00a0Heal\u00a0(2014),\u00a0Hard Love\u00a0(2017),\u00a0Eraserland\u00a0(2019),\u00a0In Heaven\u00a0(2021) and\u00a0Miracle Focus\u00a0(2024).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Strand of Oaks is the musical vehicle for Showalter \u2014 as a solo act or with a band.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">According to Showalter, \u201cLast Oaks show for a long time, so this is your chance to see us play some good rock\u2019n\u2019roll.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cOn June 28, we will be playing an amazing concert just outside of Philly. This Oaks show will be full big band jamming under the stars \u2013 full band, full rock, full fun.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cI absolutely love this concert series. Bring your blankets. The whole family is welcome. Nothing better than Philly in the summer &#8212; just magic.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The veteran musician is ready to rock.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Showalter continued, \u201cTrying to dip my toes into playing shows again. My life has shifted to a more quiet existence which is something I need these days.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cBut I love my band and the chance to share a stage with my buddies and get to play together in a city that I love is a joy of my life.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cDon\u2019t sleep on tickets. This might be the only Strand of Oaks concert this year. This is your chance. We\u2019re going to play the hits and go deep.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Stella Ruze is an award-winning folk-rock band from Philadelphia. Obviously, the indoor shows are held at the club on Sycamore Alley.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Kennett Flash Rooftop Concert series is presented outside on the top floor of the Kennett Square Parking Garage located at 100-198 East Linden Street in Kennett Square.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The indoor shows this weekend are a play &#8212; \u201cGod of Carnage\u201d &#8211;on June 27 and a concert &#8212; UK vs. US: Revolutionary Rock &#8212; on June 29.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">On Friday, West Chester University Department of Theater and Dance Presents \u201cGod of Carnage\u201d at 8 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cGod of Carnage\u201d is a play by <u>Yasmina Reza<\/u>,\u00a0translated by <u>Christopher Hampton<\/u>,\u00a0that explores the breakdown of civility between two couples.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The play begins with a playground incident between their sons, prompting a meeting to resolve the conflict.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">However, the meeting quickly devolves into a chaotic and hilarious display of adult aggression and marital discord as the couples\u2019 carefully constructed facades crumble.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The play is known for its sharp dialogue, dark humor, and exploration of human nature.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Tickets are $15.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">On June 28, the Rooftop Concert Series concert will feature Gordon Sterling and the People.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Rooftop Concert shows run from 7-9 p.m. with seating beginning at 6 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Attendees are requested to bring their own chairs. Limited concessions will be available for purchase, and you can bring food with you to the rooftop event.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The KSQ parking garage is a 24\/7 paid parking lot run by the Kennett Square Borough. It included the single \u201cTeen Angst (What the World Needs Now),\u201d which went to Number 1 on the U.S.\u00a0Modern Rock\u00a0chart.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Rising Sun Presents!
