Annual dinner dishes out fine food to support local seniors\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>KENNETT SQUARE \u2014 In recent years, Kennett Square has been deemed an up-and-coming small town, with a wide selection of high-quality restaurants fueling its revival. \u00a0On Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m., the Kennett Area Senior Center will capitalize on that trend, holding its Seventh Annual Community Cuisine Dinner, an event that showcases some of the area’s finest fare.<\/p>\n

Presented by the Association of Pennsylvania Mushroom Farmers, the Community Cuisine Dinner features local restaurants, caterers, and gourmet food businesses, all of whom will present a taste of their favorite recipes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis event draws people because of its uniqueness. Guests sample dishes prepared by the area\u2019s finest local restaurants and food purveyors, which is not usually the way most formal dinners are offered by local nonprofits,\u201d Executive Director Anita M. O\u2019Connor said. \u201cThe dishes prepared by more than 20 local restaurants and food purveyors are presented buffet-style and people are able to mingle with friends throughout the Red Clay Room.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the dinner, a silent auction will be held, the proceeds of which fund the center’s activities, including exercise classes, health and wellness seminars, and other programs that help area seniors maintain their health and independence.<\/p>\n

Besides the Association of Pennsylvania Mushroom Farmers, sponsorships from the Lions Club of Kennett Square, the Kennett Rotary Foundation, Phillips Mushroom Farm, the Longwood Rotary Club, Simpers Insurance, Kendal-Crosslands Communities, Steger, Gowie & Co. Inc., and Robert Garrett will help make this year’s event possible.<\/p>\n

Dinner will be served in the Red Clay Room at the Kennett Fire Company Firehouse in Kennett Square. The ticket price of $50 per person includes the buffet, open bar, and dessert. \u201cThe Kennett Area Senior Center has committed 40 years to preserving and enhancing the dignity and well-being of southern Chester County seniors,\u201d O\u2019Connor said. \u201cThe Cuisine Dinner helps us continue that through funding various programs such as Silver Sneakers, Zumba classes, a breakfast and lunch program, the Assisted Senior Program for those with early memory or slight mobility impairments, and social activities like Bridge and Bingo.\u201d<\/p>\n
