I\u2019ve been traveling all around the country the last couple of days and really I think this is about people\u2019s lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She spoke about the importance of continuing to \u201cmove forward\u201d \u2014 and not revert to the policies of the George W. Bush Administration, which she suggested Gov. Mitt Romney would embrace and push the country back into financial turmoil, all while cutting taxes for the wealthy, and slashing public programs such as Medicaid and Medicare and education funding.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/GOPEvent-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" title=\"GOPEvent-2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/GOPEvent-2-300x279.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"279\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Republican U.S. Senate Candidate Tom Smith greet local Republican supporters accompanied by Chester County Sheriff Carolyn &#8220;Bunny&#8221; Welsh in West Chester, Sunday.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Republicans, meanwhile, braved a cold, blustery morning outside, to greet Smith and boost enthusiasm for the GOP ticket. The number of attendees may have been limited by last-minute changes to the schedule, prompted by the decision of the Romney campaign to add a stop in Bucks County, Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Sheriff Carolyn \u201cBunny\u201d Welsh introduced Smith, who is attempting to unseat U.S. Senator Bob Casey Jr.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose of us who have been on the Tom Smith train for a while are extremely excited,\u201d Welsh said. \u201cIn the beginning, this race was 19-20 points and everyone was sure he wouldn\u2019t close the gap. But let me tell you something, not only has Tom closed the gap, but they are neck and neck. It is a very exciting race.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith spoke to the crowd and thanked them for the warm support he\u2019s seen while running for U.S. Senate. It is the passion of supporters like those in Chester County, Smith said, that the race has tightened so dramatically.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe biggest reason is because of you,\u201d Smith said. I know that to be true, I know how hard you\u2019ve been working on this campaign and for the future of our children. It is I, who need to thank you and I do. I wholeheartedly just thank you for everything you\u2019ve done.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe only have another two days to keep it up, to keep pushing on,\u201d Smith told the crowd. \u201cWednesday morning, I want us all to be able to stand up and say \u2018America is not done, yet.\u2019 \u201c<\/p>\n<p>Also on hand were Chester County Commissioner Terrence Ferrell, State Representative Dan Truitt and former County Commissioner Colin Hanna, showing their support for the Republican slate.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/DemEvent-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" title=\"DemEvent-2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/DemEvent-2-300x255.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"255\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jill Biden makes a passionate point in front of a packed crowd at Obama headquarters in West Chester, Saturday.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In addition to Biden at the Democratic event Saturday, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter spoke to the crowd. Nutter derided as cynical and pointless, a late move by Republicans to attempt to contest Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know what Pennsylvania can do,\u201d Nutter said. \u201cThere\u2019s some other folks trying to run around Pennsylvania, after ignoring the state all this time. They have bought every possible thing they can everywhere else and what to try to dump millions of dollars into Pennsylvania.
